DESCRIPTION BEHAVIOR
Battery empty or below maximum discharge
level - (RH Node 3)
Truck disabled, contactor does not pull in.
Probable Causes and Test Procedures
1. Verify a proper battery (36V Nominal) is connected to the truck.
a. Does the battery label indicate 36 Volts and a proper A/hr rating?
b. Has the battery charger been disconnected from the truck?
YES- Proceed to Step 2.
NO- Disconnect charger or replace with correct battery.
2. Measure the actual battery voltage:
a. Measure the actual battery voltage and ensure 28V DC or higher.
YES- Proceed to step 2b.
NO- Disconnect and charge the battery.
b. Measure the Specific Gravity (SG) of the battery. Is specific gravity >= 80% of full charge SG level?
YES- Proceed to step 3.
NO- Replenish fluids and recharge battery, retest for proper capacity.
3. Check High Current Power cables:
a. Check for B+ Voltage at input POS on the line contactor, with a ground reference to the B− Stud
Terminal.
YES- Proceed to step 4.
NO- Proceed to step 3b.
b. Check GND continuity from B− battery connector to GND stud.
c. Check POS continuity from B+ battery connector to POS Line contactor post.
YES- Tighten loose bolts / connections, repeat step 3a.
NO- Repair wiring / crimp terminal / stud as necessary to regain continuity.
