DESCRIPTION BEHAVIOR
Driver for steer enable (A19 output) hardware
fault - (Pump Node 5)
Traction Disabled. While operating will regen brake to
a stop.
Probable Causes and Test Procedures
1. Does the steer pump turn on normally with brake pedal pressed, and tiller moved?
YES- Controller driver may be shorted proceed to step 5.
NO- Proceed to step 2.
2. Are there other power related fault codes, such as 12592?
YES- Follow troubleshooting on other codes before troubleshooting 12829.
NO- Proceed to step 3.
3. Verify power to steer enable pin:
a. Disconnect CPS23 at the steer pump.
b. With key on measure voltage at Pin 2, it should be > 10VDC.
YES- Proceed to step 5.
NO- Proceed to step 4.
4. Verify enable resistor value and continuity:
a. Measure resistance of R7. Does resistance measure 5k Ohms +/- 25%?
YES- Proceed to step 5.
NO- Replace damaged resistor.
5. Remove CPS15 connector from pump controller and measure resistance from B - terminal to Pin 19.
Does resistance measure < 100 Ohms?
YES- Controller faulty, contact Service Engineering.
NO- Check wire 060 for continuity between Pin 19 and Pin 2 of steer pump.
