Make sure the engine oil is at the specified level. Add oil as necessary.
Make sure the middle gear/final gear oil is at the specified level. Add oil as necessary.
Check for correct play in front and rear brake levers/pedals. Make sure they are working properly.
Check brake fluid level. Add fluid if necessary.
Check for leaks. If found, ask dealer for immediate repairs. Leakage indicates hazard.
Check for correct play in the clutch lever and make sure the lever operates properly.
Shift transmission to neutral. Turn fuel petcock to "ON". Turn ignition key to "ON" and engine stop switch to "RUN".
Gradually slow using throttle grip or engine braking. Combine with front/rear brakes for maximum stopping power. Avoid excessive pressure.
Use engine brake on steep hills. Brake intermittently. Use care on poor roads/bad weather. Use balanced, moderate force for braking.
Important period: 0-1000 km. Avoid excessive load on engine for first 500 km. Read carefully.
After 500 km, replace engine oil, oil filter, middle & final gear oil.
If the owner is not familiar with motorcycle service, this work should be done by a Yamaha dealer.
Complete replacement by trained personnel. Replace seals/hoses every two/four years.
Measure oil level through window. Warm up engine first. Wait for oil to settle before measuring.
Measure oil level with gauge. Check between marks. Use 'REAR' for final, 'MIDDLE' for middle gear case.
Check fluid level before riding. Replenish if low. Use designated quality fluid. Mixing fluids can be harmful.
Fuse block is inside right side cover. Install new fuse if blown. Do not use higher amperage fuse.
Check according to chart. Consult dealer for repairs. Use genuine Yamaha parts.
