      Amber ArnoldAug 8, 2025
An irregular running or stalling Yamaha Boat engine can stem from several causes. It could be due to: an empty fuel tank (refill as soon as possible), stale or contaminated fuel, water or dust collected in the fuel filter (in both cases, have it serviced at a Yamaha dealer), a fouled or defective spark plug, an incorrect spark plug heat range (in both cases, replace the spark plug), an incorrect spark plug gap (adjust the gap), a loose spark plug cap (fit it properly), loose electrical connections (tighten or connect them properly), or a cracked, torn, or damaged spark plug cap (replace the cap).

If your Yamaha Boat is experiencing slow speeds or losing power, several factors could be responsible. Check for the following: cavitation or a clogged jet intake (clean it), engine overheat due to a clogged jet intake or cooling system (clean these components), a clogged fuel filter, or stale or contaminated fuel (in both cases, have it serviced at a Yamaha dealer). Also, inspect the spark plugs for fouling, defects, incorrect heat range (replace if necessary), or incorrect gap (adjust if needed). Finally, ensure the spark plug caps are properly fitted.
