Description of Starter Motor
The major components of the starter motor are
the magnetic switch section, the motor proper
section, and the pinion section. The magnetic

switch section has a plunger which activates
a
shift lever to engage and disengage the pinion,
and also open and close the main contacts to
start and stop the starter motor.
The over-running clutch
is
provided in order to
cut off the motive power from the engine when
the engine starts up.

towards the motor to eliminate any axial
play, and measure the clearance between the
end of the pinion and the pinion stopper.
