Do you have a question about the Yealink MVC-BYOD and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Yealink MVC-BYOD-Extender is a device designed to facilitate Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) scenarios in meeting rooms, allowing users to connect their laptops to the room's UVC camera and display for a seamless meeting experience. This quick start guide (V1.0) provides instructions for installation and connection.

Package Contents:

The package includes the MVC-BYOD-Extender itself, which comes with a 1.5m USB cable. Additionally, a 7.5m Ethernet cable is provided for network connectivity. For installation, two 3M Velcro strips are included, along with a Quick Start Guide.

Installation:

Installation is straightforward. First, attach the supplied Velcro strips to the back of the MVC-BYOD-Extender. Once the Velcro is in place, the extender can be mounted on various surfaces such as a table or wall, providing flexibility in room setup.

Connection - Step 1: Connect to the UVC Camera

There are two primary ways to connect the MVC-BYOD-Extender to a Yealink UVC camera:

  1. Direct Connection to UVC40: For the UVC40 camera, connect the 7.5m Ethernet cable directly from the MVC-BYOD-Extender to the VC Hub/Phone port on the UVC40 camera. This method is suitable for setups where the UVC40 is the primary camera and does not require a separate PoE switch for power or data.

  2. Connection via PoE Switch to UVC84: For the UVC84 camera, the connection involves an IEEE 802.3af compliant PoE Switch. The 7.5m Ethernet cable connects from the MVC-BYOD-Extender to the PoE Switch. From the PoE Switch, another Ethernet cable connects to the VC Hub/Phone port on the UVC84 camera. This setup leverages the PoE switch for both power and data transmission to the UVC84, simplifying cable management and power delivery.

Connection - Step 2: Connect to the PC

After connecting the MVC-BYOD-Extender to the UVC camera, the next step is to connect it to your personal computer (PC). This is done using the integrated 1.5m USB cable from the MVC-BYOD-Extender to a USB port on your laptop or PC. This USB connection enables your PC to access the UVC camera and other peripherals connected to the extender, allowing you to use your preferred conferencing software with the room's audio and video equipment.
