Caution
1. Be careful when transporting the instrument. Make sure the instrument is handled
with care and is not subjected to any rough treatment, like bumping against
other objects or dropping the instrument.
2.
Exposing the instrument and/or bow to certain environments, particularly
sudden changes of temperature, may cause severe damage. Please take the
necessary precautions to protect your instrument against the following:
Direct sunlight.
Excessively high or low temperatures.
Excessively high or low humidity.
Excessive dust or strong vibration.
3.
Avoid leaving the instrument in a car for any extended period of time. Extreme
temperatures, such as during the summer and winter months, can be harmful to
both the instrument and bow.
4.
Make sure you regularly clean your instrument with a soft, dry cloth. Never use
benzene, alcohol, or thinner. Never use aerosol cans, or any other sprays, within
the vicinity of the instrument. These will damage the lacquer and general
condition of the instrument.
5.
Ensure that you loosen the bow hair before you put it away in your case after
playing.
6.
Plated parts such as the adjusters, metal brackets on the neck support, etc., may
tarnish over time due to the makeup of the metal plating. This, however, will have
no influence on the performance of these parts. When tarnish first appears,
cleaning carried out in normal maintenance and care may be enough to
remove the tarnish. (If the tarnish progresses normal cleaning may not be
sufficient.)
7.
As the instrument and many of its parts are made of natural wood, there may
be some cases, where objects that come in contact with the wood (hands, parts
of the body, cleaning cloth, etc.) may become discolored. Color on body parts
is not harmful to your health but you should wash and remove it with water. We
cannot be held responsible for discoloration of clothing, etc., or the
discoloration of the wood.

Overview

This document provides a comprehensive user manual for a violin, outlining its parts, setup, tuning, and maintenance procedures. It also includes important safety precautions to ensure the longevity of the instrument and the safety of the user.

Function Description

The violin is a string instrument designed for musical performance. It produces sound through the vibration of its strings, which are typically bowed, though they can also be plucked. The instrument is comprised of a body, neck, fingerboard, bridge, tailpiece, and tuning pegs, all working in concert to create its characteristic sound. The bow, an essential accessory, is used to draw across the strings, causing them to vibrate. The manual details the process of installing the bridge, hooking and winding the strings, and tuning the instrument to specific pitches (E, A, D, G for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th strings respectively). A tuner is provided to assist in achieving accurate pitch, and a shoulder rest is included for comfortable playing posture. The case is designed for safe transport and storage of the violin and its accessories.

Usage Features

  • Bridge Installation: The manual provides clear instructions on how to properly install the bridge, emphasizing the correct alignment and string placement within its four notches. It warns against improper alignment, which can lead to poor sound quality and damage to the bridge.
  • Stringing and Tuning: Detailed steps are given for changing strings, including setting the fine tuner to its middle adjustment range before stringing. Instructions for hooking the string's ball end onto the fine tuner's notch and winding the strings onto the tuning pegs are provided. The importance of applying firm pressure to the tuning peg while turning is highlighted. The manual also guides the user through tuning each string to its correct pitch using a piano, tuning fork, or the provided tuner. It reiterates the need to check bridge alignment after tuning.
  • Tuner Operation: The manual explains how to install the tuner on the violin's headstock using its clip. It describes how to power on the tuner by long-pressing the power button and how to select the "Violin" mode by pressing the power button consecutively. The tuner's display helps the user achieve the correct pitch by showing whether the string is sharp or flat.
  • Shoulder Rest Installation: Instructions are given for attaching the shoulder rest by sliding its brackets along both sides of the electric violin until it is firmly secured. A caution is included to perform this procedure slowly and carefully to avoid damaging the violin.
  • Bow Rosining: The manual instructs users to apply the supplied rosin evenly over the entire length of the bow hair before use, noting that a generous amount should be applied when rosining for the first time.
  • Case Usage: The case is designed for carrying the violin, and the manual shows how to install the two straps on the back of the case for backpack-style carrying.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: Users are advised to regularly clean the instrument with a soft, dry cloth to remove smudges and dirt after use. Crucially, it warns against using benzene, alcohol, thinner, aerosol cans, or any other sprays near the instrument, as these can damage the lacquer and overall condition.
  • Bow Hair Care: It is emphasized that the bow hair should always be loosened before storing the bow in its case after playing. This prevents undue tension on the bow stick.
  • Tarnish Prevention: The manual notes that plated parts like adjusters and metal brackets may tarnish over time. While this does not affect performance, regular cleaning is recommended to remove tarnish when it first appears.
  • Environmental Protection: The manual strongly advises against exposing the instrument and/or bow to certain environments, particularly sudden changes in temperature, direct sunlight, excessively high or low temperatures, excessively high or low humidity, excessive dust, or strong vibration. It specifically warns against leaving the instrument in a car for extended periods, especially during extreme summer and winter temperatures.
  • Bridge Alignment: Users are instructed to check the bridge's alignment regularly, ensuring the side facing the tailpiece is at a right angle to the instrument's top. If the bridge leans, users should gently loosen the strings and adjust the bridge's angle with both hands.
  • String Replacement: When changing strings, the manual advises replacing them one at a time to prevent the bridge from collapsing and the tailpiece from falling off. It also cautions against over-loosening or over-tightening the fine tuner, which can damage the instrument or cause noise disturbances.
  • Wood Discoloration: The manual acknowledges that as the instrument and many parts are made of natural wood, contact with hands, body parts, or cleaning cloths may cause discoloration. While discoloration on body parts is not harmful and can be washed off, the manufacturer is not responsible for discoloration of clothing or the wood itself.
  • Battery Replacement: Instructions are provided for replacing the tuner's battery by sliding out the lid of the battery compartment.

Safety Precautions

  • Handling and Transport: The instrument should always be handled with care and not subjected to rough treatment, bumping, or dropping.
  • Bow Safety: The bow's shape can be a danger to persons and objects. Users are warned to maintain sufficient space when playing and to avoid swinging, throwing, or treating the bow in a rough manner. When not in use, the bow should be held still.
  • String Changing/Tuning Safety: Never hold the instrument close to your face when tuning or changing strings, as a broken string can cause injury to the eyes or face.
  • Case Safety: Take care not to pinch hands or fingers when closing the case.
  • Environmental Acclimation: In summer or winter, allow the instrument to adjust to room temperature before playing to prevent glue failure or performance issues due to sudden temperature or humidity changes.
  • Professional Tuning: For optimal results, it is recommended that tuning be carried out by a professional and experienced person.
