Function Description
The Zanussi refrigerator is designed for household and similar applications, including farmhouses, staff kitchen areas in shops and offices, and residential environments like hotels and bed and breakfasts. Its primary function is to store food and beverages at controlled temperatures. The appliance features a temperature regulation system, a QuickChill function for rapid cooling, and movable shelves for flexible storage. It utilizes isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, which is a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.

The appliance is designed to operate within specific ambient temperature ranges, categorized by climate class:

It is equipped with a long-life LED interior light. The electrical connection requires a 13 amp fuse (BS 1362 ASTA approved) and must be earthed. The airflow behind the appliance needs to be at least 200 cm² with a minimum distance of 5 cm.
Usage Features
- Switching On/Off: The appliance is switched on by inserting the plug and touching the temperature regulator button. To switch off, the temperature regulator button must be touched for 3 seconds until all indicators turn off.
- Temperature Regulation: The temperature can be adjusted progressively from 2°C to 8°C by touching the temperature regulator button. The corresponding LED lights up to indicate the selected setting. A medium setting is generally recommended. The internal temperature is influenced by room temperature, door opening frequency, and the quantity of food stored.
- QuickChill Function: This feature can be activated by pressing the QuickChill button, indicated by a dedicated LED. It automatically stops after 6 hours and can be deactivated by pressing the button again.
- Movable Shelves: The refrigerator walls are equipped with runners, allowing shelves to be positioned at desired heights for flexible storage. The glass shelf above the vegetable drawer should not be moved to ensure proper air circulation.
- Door Shelves: Door shelves can be repositioned to accommodate various-sized food packages.
- Food Storage Guidelines:
- Warm food or evaporating liquids should not be stored in the refrigerator.
- Food should be covered or wrapped, especially if it has a strong flavor.
- Food should be positioned to allow free air circulation.
- Meat should be wrapped and placed on the glass shelf above the vegetable drawer, stored for at most 1-2 days.
- Cooked foods and cold dishes should be covered and placed on any shelf.
- Fruit and vegetables should be cleaned and placed in a special drawer. Bananas, potatoes, onions, and garlic should not be kept in the refrigerator if not packed.
- Butter and cheese should be placed in airtight containers or wrapped in aluminum foil or a polythene bag.
- Bottles should be closed with a cap and placed on the door bottle shelf or bottle rack.
- Explosive substances (e.g., aerosol cans with flammable propellant) and flammable gas/liquid should not be stored.
- Flammable products or items wet with flammable products should not be placed in, near, or on the appliance.
Maintenance Features
- Cleaning the Interior: Before first use, the interior and accessories should be washed with lukewarm water and a neutral soap, then dried thoroughly. Abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners should not be used as they can damage the finish.
- Periodic Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly. The inside and accessories should be cleaned with lukewarm water and neutral soap. Door seals should be checked and wiped clean regularly. The condenser and compressor (if accessible) at the back of the appliance should be cleaned with a brush.
- Defrosting: Frost is automatically eliminated from the refrigerator compartment's evaporator when the compressor stops. Defrost water drains into a special container at the back of the appliance, where it evaporates. The defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel must be periodically cleaned to prevent water overflow.
- Door Gaskets: Door gaskets should be cleaned. If necessary, the door should be adjusted or defective gaskets replaced by an Authorised Service Centre.
- Lamp Replacement: The appliance's LED interior light can only be replaced by an Authorised Service Centre.
- Periods of Non-Operation: For long periods of non-use, the appliance should be disconnected from the electricity supply, all food removed, and the appliance and accessories cleaned. The door(s) should be left open to prevent unpleasant smells.
- Safety during Maintenance: Before any maintenance, the appliance must be deactivated and the mains plug disconnected. Only qualified persons should perform maintenance and recharging of the cooling unit, as it contains hydrocarbons. Care must be taken not to pull, move, or damage any pipes and/or cables inside the cabinet, or damage the cooling system. When moving the cabinet, it should be lifted by the front edge to avoid scratching the floor.
- Disposal: The appliance should be disconnected from the mains supply, the mains cable cut off and discarded, and the door removed to prevent children or pets from being trapped. The refrigerant circuit and insulation materials are ozone-friendly. The insulation foam contains flammable gas. Disposal should be done according to municipal authority guidelines. The cooling unit near the heat exchanger should not be damaged during disposal. Packaging materials should be recycled in relevant containers. The appliance itself should not be disposed of with household waste but returned to a local recycling facility or municipal office.
