Overview

This document describes the Zanussi ZT 1012 Washing Machine, a built-in appliance designed for effective laundry treatment with low water, energy, and detergent consumption.

Function Description

The Zanussi ZT 1012 is an automatic washing machine that offers various wash programmes for different fabric types and soil levels. It features a balance control device to ensure stability during spinning and an automatic cooling system for wash water (to 60°C before draining on the 95°C programme) to reduce thermal shock and prevent creasing. The machine is designed for permanent plumbing into a home's water supply and drainage system, but can also be connected to existing taps with the drain hose discharging into a sink.

    • Water: 59 litres
    • Time: 140 mins

The appliance complies with EEC Directives 73/23 (Low Voltage Directive) and 89/336 (Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive).

Usage Features

The control panel includes:

  • Detergent Dispenser Drawer: With compartments for prewash, main wash, and fabric softener. A programme chart is located inside the drawer.
  • "Mains-on" Light: Illuminates when the machine is operating.
  • ON/OFF Button (Bo): Depressing this button starts or stops the machine. It includes a child-proof safety lock.
  • "Quick Wash" Button ( ): Reduces wash time for lightly soiled garments on programmes A, B, C, D, and G.
  • Temperature Selector Dial (Thermostat): Allows selection of washing temperature, including a cold wash option (*).
  • Programme Selector Dial: Used to select the desired wash programme (e.g., A for Whites with Prewash, B for Whites, C for Fast Coloureds, G for Synthetics, K for Wool, L for Delicates).

Operating Sequence:

  1. Load Laundry: Open the door, place laundry in the drum one item at a time, and close the door.
  2. Measure Detergent: Pull out the dispenser drawer, add detergent to the main wash compartment (II) and, if prewash is desired, to the prewash compartment (I).
  3. Measure Fabric Softener: If required, add fabric softener to the compartment marked (MAX mark should not be exceeded). Close the drawer.
  4. Select Temperature: Turn the temperature dial to the desired setting.
  5. Select Option: Depress the "Quick Wash" button if laundry is lightly soiled.
  6. Select Programme: Turn the programme dial clockwise to the desired programme.
  7. Start Machine: Ensure the appliance is plugged in, water supply tap is on, drain hose is positioned correctly, and the door and dispenser drawer are closed. Depress the ON/OFF button.
  8. End of Programme: The machine stops automatically. The door safety device releases after 2 minutes. Switch off the machine by depressing the ON/OFF button. Remove laundry and leave the door slightly ajar to prevent mildew. For programmes ending with water left in the tub (G, H, K, L, M, N), drain the water by selecting programme "P" (drain) or "J" (short spin) before opening the door.

Washing Hints:

  • Avoid overloading.
  • Sort laundry by fabric type, colour-fastness, and soil level.
  • Empty pockets, close zips, and fasten buttons before washing.
  • Wash new coloured items separately.
  • Use appropriate detergent and quantities for automatic washing machines.
  • For wool, use gentle detergent. Only "Pure New Wool - washable, preshrunk" can be machine washed using the wool programme.
  • Pre-treat stubborn stains.
  • Wash small items in a washing bag or pillowcase.
  • Do not overfill fabric softener.
  • Leave the porthole door slightly ajar between washes to preserve the door seal.

Maintenance Features

  • Descaling: Periodically use a water softening powder to prevent lime deposits.
  • After Each Wash: Leave the door open to prevent mould and smells.
  • Maintenance Wash: Regularly run a hot cotton wash (e.g., 95°C) with an empty drum and normal detergent (powder) to remove residues.
  • External Cleaning: Clean the cabinet with soap and water, then dry thoroughly.
  • Cleaning the Dispenser Drawer: Remove the drawer by pressing the catch, flush under a tap to remove residue. The top part of the additive compartment can be removed for easier cleaning.
  • Cleaning the Drawer Recess: Use a small brush to clean the recess after removing the drawer. Run a rinse programme with an empty drum afterwards.
  • Cleaning the Water Drain Filter: Clean after every wash. Place a container underneath to catch spillage. If blocked, manually drain water from the machine before unscrewing the filter. Ensure the filter is securely retightened.
  • Cleaning the Water Inlet Filter: If water is hard or contains lime, clean the inlet filter periodically using a hard bristle brush. Turn off the water tap and unscrew the inlet hose first.
