This document is an instruction booklet for a Zanussi Electrolux washing machine, model ZWC 1300W. It provides comprehensive information for both the user and the installer, covering safety, operation, maintenance, and technical specifications.
Function Description:
The Zanussi Electrolux ZWC 1300W is a domestic washing machine designed for effective laundry treatment with low water, energy, and detergent consumption. It features a combined program and temperature selector for ease of use, a program progress display, and an automatic cooling system for wash water (from 90°C to 60°C) to reduce thermal shock to fabrics and prevent creasing. The machine includes a special wool program with a delicate wash system and an unbalance detection system to prevent vibrations during the spin cycle. An ECO valve ensures full detergent utilization and saves energy by reducing water consumption.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Dimensions: Height 67 cm, Width 49.5 cm, Depth 51.5 cm.
- Weight: Net 54 kg.
- Recommended Capacity (Dry Weight): Cotton 3.0 kg, Synthetics/Delicate 1.5 kg, Wool 1.0 kg.
- Water Pressures: Minimum 50 kPa (0.5 bar), Maximum 1000 kPa (10 bar).
- Drum Volume: 27 litres.
- Spin Speed: Maximum 1300 rpm.
- Electrical Data: Power supply 230 V - 50 Hz, Fuse 13 A, Power rating 1600 W.
- Compliance: The appliance complies with EU directives 73/23/EEC (low-voltage) and 89/336/EEC (electromagnetic compatibility).
Usage Features:
The washing machine's control panel includes a detergent dispenser with separate compartments for detergent and fabric conditioner. Pre-wash detergent should be added directly into the drum.
- Programme Selector: A rotary knob combines program and temperature selection, divided into sections for Cotton, Synthetic, Delicate, Wool, and Special programmes. It also includes a "Reset" position to cancel programs and switch off the machine.
- Spin Speed Selector: Allows users to reduce the final spin speed or select "No spin" for delicate materials. "No spin" adds 3 extra rinses for cotton programs and 1 extra rinse for synthetic programs. "Rinse Hold" prevents creasing by not draining the last rinse water.
- "Quick" and "Daily" Buttons:
- Daily: A short program for lightly soiled white/coloured and synthetic laundry, reducing wash time by approximately 10 minutes. Max recommended temperature 60°C.
- Quick: A very short program for lightly soiled laundry (except wool), reducing wash time by approximately 30 minutes for cotton and 20 minutes for synthetics, performing one less rinse.
- "Pre wash" Button: For heavily soiled laundry, runs a pre-wash up to 30°C, prolonging wash time by approximately 20 minutes. Ends with a short spin for cotton/synthetic, or water drain for delicate laundry. Not available for wool.
- "Super Rinse" Button: Performs 2 additional rinses, suitable for all programs except wool, and recommended for sensitive skin or very soft water areas.
- "Start/Pause" Button: Starts the selected program (locking the door) or pauses a running program.
- "Delay Start" Button: Delays program start by 8, 4, or 2 hours. The door remains locked during the delay period. Not available with "Spin" and "Drain" programs.
- Programme Progress Display: Shows the current phase (Washing, End) and door status (locked, unlocked, flashing for soon to be unlocked).
- Starting a Wash Programme: Involves loading laundry, adding detergent and fabric softener, selecting program and spin speed, choosing options, and pressing Start/Pause.
- Changing/Cancelling a Programme: A program can be changed before starting. Once started, it must be cancelled by turning the selector to "Reset" before selecting a new program.
- Opening the Door: Possible after approximately 1 minute if water temperature is below 55°C, water level is below the door edge, and the machine is not spinning.
- End of Programme: Machine stops automatically, "End" light illuminates, and "Door" light goes out, allowing door opening. If "Rinse Hold" was selected, water must be drained first.
Maintenance Features:
- Cabinet Cleaning: Clean outside surfaces with a mild washing-up liquid solution and water, then wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use alcohol, thinners, or similar substances.
- Detergent Drawer Cleaning: Clean regularly by flushing with water. The entire drawer can be removed by pulling it past its retaining stop. The syphon can be removed for cleaning by pressing inwards and pulling upwards.
- Recess for Detergent Drawer Cleaning: Use an old toothbrush to clean detergent residues. Run a short program without laundry to rinse after cleaning.
- Inside Machine Cleaning: For frequent low-temperature washes or minimal detergent use, clean inside the machine about once a month using a biological powder (e.g., Ariel Futur) and running a high-temperature wash program without laundry.
- Descaling: If water supply is harder than 7° dH, descale every three months using approximately 150 ml of citric acid with a high-temperature wash program without laundry.
- Protection Against Freezing: If the machine is in an area where temperatures may drop below 0°C, turn off water supply, disconnect inlet hose, run a wash program for a short time, then interrupt it by turning the selector to "Reset." Place hoses low into a waste gully to drain remaining water.
- General Advice: After use, turn off water supply and disconnect from power. Leave door ajar to prevent stale odors. Ensure machine is disconnected during cleaning.
