Washing Functionality:
The appliance features a range of washing programmes tailored for various fabrics:
- Cottons and Linens: Programmes are available for heavy soiled white cottons (95°C with prewash), normally soiled white cottons (95°C), fast coloured cottons (60°C), and non-fast coloured cottons (40°C). These programmes include multiple rinses and a long spin cycle.
- Synthetics, Mixed Fabrics, Delicates, and Wool: Specific programmes are provided for mixed fabrics (50°C), lightly soiled synthetics or mixed fabrics (30°C), delicates (40°C), and wool (40°C). The wool wash cycle is Woolmark approved for machine washable wool products. These programmes typically include 3 rinses and a short spin.
- Special Cycles: Dedicated cycles for Rinses (for hand-washed items), Freshen Up (for softening hand-washed items), Spin (for cotton and linen), Short Spin (for delicate items), and Drain (for emptying water) are also available.
The machine incorporates a balance control device to ensure stability during spinning. It also features automatic cooling of wash water to 60°C before draining for 95°C programmes, which helps reduce thermal shock and prevent creasing.
Drying Functionality:
The washer-dryer offers two main drying programmes:
- Store Dry: Suitable for items to be put away without ironing, available for cotton and linen (2.5 kg and 1 kg loads) and synthetic and mixed fabrics (1.5 kg and 1 kg loads).
- Iron Dry: Suitable for items that require ironing, available for cotton and linen (2.5 kg and 1 kg loads).
Drying operates on the condensation principle, requiring water taps to be open and the drain hose to be functional even during the drying cycle. A cooling phase automatically starts 10 minutes before the end of drying to allow laundry to cool down and prevent creasing.
Usage Features
Operating the Zanussi Electrolux ZWD 1260 W involves a straightforward sequence of steps, guided by the control panel.
Control Panel Elements:
- Detergent Dispenser Drawer: Divided into compartments for prewash, main wash, and fabric softener.
- Programme Guide: Provides an overview of available programmes.
- Drying Time Selector Dial: Allows selection of drying time (up to 120 minutes) for cottons (light blue section) and synthetics (green section). This dial should only be turned clockwise.
- Drying Indicator Light: Illuminates when the machine is drying.
- "Mains-on" Light: Illuminates when the machine is operating and goes out when the ON-OFF button is released.
- ON-OFF Button: Starts and stops the machine.
- HALF LOAD Button: Reduces water consumption during the rinse cycle for smaller cotton or linen loads (up to 2.5 kg).
- Spin Speed Selector Dial: Allows selection of desired spin speed or options like "no spin" (for crease-prone items) or "Rinse Hold" (to prevent creasing by leaving water in the tub). - Programme Selector Dial: Used to select the desired wash and drying programme by turning it clockwise.
Operating Sequence (General):
- Load Laundry: Open the door, place laundry in the drum one item at a time, and close the door.
- Add Detergent and Fabric Softener: Pull out the dispenser drawer, measure and pour detergent into the main wash compartment (and prewash if desired), and fabric softener into its compartment (not exceeding the "MAX" mark). Close the drawer gently.
- Select Spin Speed/Option: Turn the spin speed selector dial to the desired position (spin speed, no spin, or rinse hold).
- Select Programme: Turn the programme selector dial clockwise to the desired wash or drying programme.
- Select Drying Time (if applicable): For drying programmes, turn the drying time selector dial to the required duration based on fabric type and desired dryness.
- Start Machine: Ensure the appliance is plugged in, water taps are on, drain hose is correctly positioned, and the door/dispenser drawer are closed. Then, depress the ON-OFF button. The "mains-on" light will illuminate.
- End of Programme: The machine stops automatically. The door lock releases 2 minutes after the programme ends. Switch off the machine by depressing the ON-OFF button. Unplug the appliance and turn off water taps.
Important Usage Notes:

- Leave the porthole door slightly ajar between washes to preserve the door seal.
- Avoid switching the appliance off and on during operation, as this can modify the memorised programme.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the Zanussi Electrolux ZWD 1260 W. Always disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply before any maintenance or cleaning.
After Each Wash:
- Leave the door open for a while to prevent mould and stagnant smells and to preserve the door seal.
Descaling:

Cleaning the Drawer Recess:
- After removing the drawer, use a small brush to clean the recess, ensuring all washing powder residue is removed. Replace the drawer and run a rinse programme without clothes.
Cleaning the Filter (Water Drain Filter):
- A clean filter is essential for correct machine operation and should be cleaned after every washing programme.
- Open the filter door and place a container underneath to catch any spillage.
- Unscrew and remove the filter. Clean it carefully under a fast running tap.
- If the filter is blocked and the machine cannot drain, manually drain water by unhooking the drain hose from the standpipe/sink and holding it over a bowl until water stops flowing.
- When replacing the filter, ensure it is securely retightened to prevent leaks.
- Warning: Hot water may be present in the filter during or after a wash cycle; wait until the appliance has finished and is empty before removing.
Cleaning the Water Inlet Filters:
- If water is hard or contains lime, the inlet filters may clog. Turn off water taps, unscrew inlet hoses, and clean the filters with a hard bristle brush. Tighten inlet hoses securely.
Dangers of Freezing:
