Overview

The Zephyr Roma Groove (models ZRG-E30BS, ZRG-M90BS) is a wall-mounted range hood designed for household cooking areas, offering both ducted and ductless (recirculating) ventilation options. It incorporates a range of features for efficient air purification, ease of use, and integrated entertainment.

Function Description:

The Roma Groove range hood is primarily designed to ventilate cooking fumes, grease, and odors from the kitchen. It can operate in two modes:

  • Ducted Ventilation: Exhausts air directly to the outdoors through a duct system. This is the most effective and efficient method for air purification.
  • Ductless Recirculation: Filters cooking fumes and odors using charcoal filters and then recirculates the purified air back into the home. This option is suitable when external ductwork is not feasible.

The hood features ICON Touch Controls for managing fan speeds, lighting, and special functions. It also includes integrated Bluetooth® stereo speakers for audio entertainment and can be controlled via an optional RF remote.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Electrical Supply: 120V, 60Hz, connected to an individual, properly grounded branch circuit protected by a 15 or 20 ampere circuit breaker or time delay fuse. Wiring must be 2-wire with ground.
  • Ducting: A minimum of 6-inch round rigid metal duct is recommended for maximum airflow efficiency. Flexible ducts can restrict airflow by up to 50%. The maximum total duct length should not exceed 150 equivalent feet.
  • Mounting Height: Minimum 24 inches and maximum 36 inches from the range top to the hood bottom.
  • Hood Dimensions:
    • Width: 29-7/8 inches (30-inch model) or 35-1/2 inches (36-inch model)
    • Depth: 22 inches
    • Height (Standard Duct Cover): Minimum ducted 27 inches, minimum recirculating 31-1/2 inches, maximum 48-1/2 inches.
    • Height (with Z1C-00RO Extension): Minimum ducted 42 inches, minimum recirculating 46 inches, maximum 78 inches.
  • Ceiling Heights:
    • Standard Duct Cover: Minimum ducted 87 inches (7' 3"), minimum recirculating 91-1/2 inches (7' 7-1/2"), maximum 108-1/2 inches (9' 1/2").
    • with Z1C-00RO Extension: Minimum ducted 102 inches (8' 6"), minimum recirculating 106 inches (8' 10"), maximum 148 inches (12' 4").
  • Lighting: LumiLight LED (pre-installed).
  • Speakers: Bluetooth® stereo speakers (pre-installed), utilizing Bluetooth® version 4.1.
  • Backdraft Damper: 6-inch round backdraft damper (pre-installed).
  • Airflow Control Technology (ACT™): Allows installers to set maximum blower CFM to 390 CFM (4 speeds) or 290 CFM (3 speeds) to comply with local codes, if necessary. Default maximum CFM uses 5 speeds.
  • Maximum Amps: 4 Amps.

Usage Features:

  • ICON Touch Controls:
    • Power / Delay Off Button: Turns the hood (fan and lights) on/off. Remembers the last speed and light level. Holding for two seconds activates a 5-minute delay-off timer, reducing fan speed to 1.
    • Speed Selection Buttons (V / A): Decreases or increases fan speed (1 to 5). Pressing 'V' at speed 1 turns the fan off. Pressing 'A' when off turns the fan on at speed 1.
    • Lights Button (☼): Toggles between low, high, and off light levels.
    • Display Indicators: Shows current fan speed, delay off status, and filter clean/change reminders.
  • Bluetooth® Controls:
    • Bluetooth® Button (∗): Powers on/off the speakers and initiates the pairing process. A successful connection is indicated by a "bloop" sound. Holding the button powers off the speakers.
    • Play & Pause Button (►II): Plays or pauses audio from the paired device.
    • Decrease Volume Button (◄-): Lowers the volume. Holding it skips to the previous track.
    • Increase Volume Button (◄+): Increases the volume. Holding it skips to the next track.
    • Bluetooth® Connection: The hood's blower or lights do not need to be on for speakers to activate. The unit name for pairing is "Zephyr Bluetooth."
  • Optional RF Remote Control (RC-0002 kit):
    • Blower On / Speed Selection: Cycles through blower speeds.
    • Blower On / Power Off: Powers on the blower at the last speed setting or turns off the entire hood.
    • 5 Min Delay Off: Activates a 5-minute delay-off mode (blower to speed 1).
    • Lights Low/High/Off: Toggles between light levels.
    • Synchronization: Requires holding the hood's Lights button until it flashes, then pressing any remote button to link.
    • Storage: The remote has a magnet for easy storage on magnetic surfaces or in the optional Zephyr remote holder (which can be inserted into a standard electrical outlet). Maximum communication distance is 15 feet from the liner.
