Do you have a question about the ZORN INSTRUMENTS Z 26 LNP PX and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the Zorn E-AKKU/Battery Cooler, a portable electric cooler designed for both cooling and heating, offering flexibility for various applications. The cooler is available in two main models: Z 26 LNP PX / Z 26 LNE PX and Z 26 DC PX, with the primary distinction being their power input capabilities.

Function Description

The Zorn E-AKKU/Battery Cooler is an electric thermobox primarily used for keeping food and drinks cool, or warm, depending on the selected function. It is designed for use in private households, camping, offices, workshops, and other commercial areas such as hotels, motels, and catering services. The cooler is suitable for domestic use, camping, and short-term professional use. It is not intended for continuous commercial use or for medical and special applications where the failure of the product could cause injury, death, or substantial property damage. The device can be powered by various sources, including 230V AC (household mains), 12V/24V DC (car/truck cigarette lighter), and an 18V Power X-CHANGE battery. The Power X-CHANGE battery feature allows for extended cooling or heating, even when disconnected from other power sources, making it ideal for maintaining temperature during transport or in remote locations.

Important Technical Specifications

The Zorn E-AKKU/Battery Cooler models share several core specifications:

General Specifications:

  • Gross Capacity: 26 liters
  • Net Capacity: 25 liters
  • Design Temperature: 17°C
  • Climate Class: LNP = ST / LNE = N (for Z 26 LNP PX / Z 26 LNE PX) and N (for Z 26 DC PX)
  • Airborne Acoustical Noise: min: < 27 dB, max: < 54 dB
  • Product Dimensions: 41 cm x 29 cm x 41.5 cm

Model Z 26 LNP PX / Z 26 LNE PX:

  • Product Weight: LNP: 4.3 kg / LNE: 4.0 kg
  • Power Consumption: LNP: 0.155 kWh / LNE: 0.206 kWh
  • Connection Voltage: 220-240 V~ and 12/24V (DC)
  • Output Rating:
    • Cooling: 48 W / 67 W
    • Heating: 41 W / 61 W
  • Fuse for 12 Volt Operation: 6.3 A
  • Protection Class: II
  • Insulation: LNP = PU foam; LNE = EPS foam
  • Battery Compatibility: 18 Volt Power X-CHANGE Battery

Model Z 26 DC PX:

  • Product Weight: approx. 3.5 kg
  • Power Consumption: (not specified in kWh, but output rating is given)
  • Connection Voltage: 12/24V (DC)
  • Output Rating:
    • Cooling: 48 W
    • Heating: 41 W
  • Fuse for 12 Volt Operation: 6.3 A
  • Protection Class: III
  • Insulation: EPS foam
  • Battery Compatibility: 18 Volt Power X-CHANGE Battery

The Z 26 DC PX model does not have an integrated 230 Volt connection, relying solely on DC power and the 18V Power X-CHANGE battery.

Usage Features

The cooler offers versatile usage options:

Power X-CHANGE Battery Operation:

  • The cooler can be operated with 18V Power X-CHANGE batteries from EINHELL (2 Ah, 4 Ah, 5.2 Ah, 4/6 Ah, 8 Ah).
  • The battery connection is located on the underside of the cooler, allowing for secure attachment.
  • The battery operation is designed to maintain the temperature of pre-cooled or pre-warmed items. It is not recommended for cooling hot items from scratch, as this would require excessive time and energy.
  • The cooling duration with battery power depends on the battery capacity and the selected power setting (regulated by the energy consumption dial). For optimal performance, batteries with a capacity of at least 4.0 Ah are recommended. Multiple smaller batteries can be used sequentially to extend operating time.

Power Regulation:

  • The cooler features a power regulator dial (6) on the top panel.
  • For AC 230V operation, the power can be continuously adjusted from "zzZ/ECO" (maximum energy saving) to "MAX".
  • For DC 12V/24V/18V operation, the power can be set to 4 levels: "zzZ 1A / 2A / 3A / MaxA".
  • If the cooler has a heating function, a slide switch (7) allows selection between "Cool" and "Warm" modes, indicated by two LEDs.
  • The "zzZ" (sleep mode) setting provides quiet operation (<27dB) with minimal energy consumption, ideal for use in quiet environments like caravans, mobile homes, or hotel rooms overnight.

Connectivity:

  • The Z 26 LNP PX / Z 26 LNE PX models come with a 230V AC cable (3) for household mains, a 12V/24V DC cable (4) for car/truck cigarette lighters, and an 18V DC connection cable (5) for the Power X-CHANGE battery holder.
  • The Z 26 DC PX model only supports 12V/24V DC and 18V Power X-CHANGE battery connections.
  • Only one power source should be connected at a time to prevent damage to the product.

Safety Instructions:

  • Always ensure the cooler is placed on a stable, flat surface.
  • Do not block ventilation openings.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or placing the device near open flames or other heat sources.
  • Do not immerse the device in water or expose it to rain.
  • Do not store explosive substances or flammable propellants inside the cooler.
  • Children over 8 years old and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities can use the device under supervision and after receiving instructions on safe use. Children should not play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance should not be performed by unsupervised children.
  • Damaged power cables must be replaced by the manufacturer, an authorized workshop, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards.
  • Never pull the plug out of the socket by the cable.
  • Always disconnect the power cable before cleaning or after each use.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Care:

  • Before first use and after each use, wipe the interior and exterior of the cooler with a damp cloth.
  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or abrasive materials, as these can damage the surface.
  • The lid and its components, including the hinges and locking mechanism, can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
  • Ensure the cooler is dry before storing.
  • Do not clean the cooler under running water.

Fuse Replacement (for 12 Volt operation):

  • The 12V plug contains a fuse (21) that can be replaced if necessary.
  • To replace the fuse, unscrew the red compensating screw (18) from the plug.
  • Unscrew the screw (16) from the upper half of the housing (17) using a suitable Phillips screwdriver.
  • Lift the upper half of the housing off the lower half (20).
  • Hold the contact spring (19) in place while removing the fuse.
  • Carefully lift the contact pin (22) out of the housing. The fuse can now be removed and replaced with a new 6.3 A fuse.
  • Reassemble the plug by reversing the steps, ensuring all parts are securely in place.

Disposal and Recycling:

  • The device and its packaging should be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Old electrical and electronic devices, as well as batteries, must not be disposed of with household waste. They should be taken to designated collection points for recycling according to local regulations (EU Directive 2012/19/EC for WEEE and 2006/66/EC for batteries).
  • Packaging materials (cardboard, plastic films) can be recycled at local collection points.

Repair:

  • Repairs should only be carried out by qualified personnel. Improper repairs can lead to significant risks for the user.
  • In case of damage, contact the dealer or manufacturer for repair information.
