Do you have a question about the 5th Wheel TDR01Z and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The 5TH WHEEL Electric Bicycle, model TDR01Z (referred to as "D1"), is designed for travel and fitness, offering a blend of convenience and performance. It is crucial to operate the E-bike in accordance with local laws and regulations.

Function Description:

The E-bike features an electronic instrument for displaying riding information, including speed, auxiliary gear, electric quantity, and mileage. It supports three riding modes: "Ride Mode" with gears 1 (15km/h), 2 (20km/h), and 3 (25km/h), and "Fitness Mode" with gears -3 to 3, representing pedal resistance and assist respectively. The instrument also provides navigation tips and incoming call reminders when connected to the 5TH WHEEL App.

The 5TH WHEEL App (available on Android and iOS) enhances the user experience by allowing device connection, control, and display of detailed riding information such as power quantity, pedal frequency, single calories, current speed, speed gear, headlight status, auto lock, speed unit, and boost level. The app also features a "lock the car" function, though it's noted that this only prevents normal operation and does not guarantee theft prevention due to the E-bike's lightweight and mechanical components.

The E-bike is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, a motor, a kickstand, ambient light, headlight, taillight, front and rear reflectors, front and rear suspension shock absorption, and mobile auxiliary wheels. The handlebar is foldable for convenience.

Usage Features:

  • Preparation before riding: Users must check the power circuit, lighting, brakes, handlebar and wheel fastening, tire pressure, and reflectors.
  • Handlebar folding: Push the handle switch upward, open the handle outward, and flip the handlebar to one side.
  • Pedal installation: Align pedals to crank holes and install with a tool handle.
  • Seat installation and adjustment: Open the seatpost clamp, pull out or adjust the seatpost to the appropriate height, ensuring it does not exceed the safety line.
  • Battery replacement: Open the E-bike folding buckle, remove the old battery, and insert the new one.
  • Tire inflation: Unscrew the riser cap, draw the gas cylinder assembly, insert the inflator tightly to the valve, flip the fixed buckle 90°, hold the cushion, and inflate.
  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the "U" button for 2 seconds.
  • Mode Switching: Double-click the "U" button to switch between Ride/Fitness Mode.
  • Gear Adjustment: Click the "+" button to adjust the gear.
  • Display Interface Switching: Click the "-" button to switch the display interface.
  • APP Operation: Scan a QR code or search "5thWheel" to download the app. Register/log in, then use the "Add Device" function to connect the E-bike via Bluetooth. A "super key" (located on a sticker below the Warranty Card) is required for switching accounts and pairing.
  • Battery Usage: Use the original battery model. Check for damage, leakage, heat, or smoke. Initial charge may be low due to self-consumption during transport. Optimal usage environment is 10°C-45°C. Low temperatures attenuate capacity (70% at -10°C, 85% at 0°C, 100% at 25°C). Stop use immediately if abnormal conditions occur.
  • Charging: Use the original charger at 10°C-40°C in a well-ventilated area, away from combustibles. Charge within 12 hours to avoid overcharging. Power rises quickly initially, then slowly. Charging may stop at low outdoor temperatures. Charger surface temperature may rise, which is normal. Plug in the battery first, then the power supply. Unplug the power supply first after charging, then the battery. Do not connect the charger to AC power without load. Stop charging if abnormal indicator light, smell, or overheating occurs. Avoid foreign objects, water, or liquids in the charger. Do not carry the charger with the E-bike unless in a toolbox with shock absorption. Do not disassemble or replace charger components.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Check (before riding):
    • Tire: Check pressure (normal air pressure shown on tire label), cracks, abnormal wear, nails, stones, or glass in tread groove. Replace if worn to the tread wear mark.
    • Lighting: Turn on power, operate lighting switch and distance light to check headlight and taillight functionality.
    • Brakes: Check front and rear brake levers to confirm power off. Check idle stroke (10-20mm for drum brake, 5-10mm for hydraulic disc brake, 10-20mm for brake pedal). Test braking effects at low speed. Replace brake pads if severely worn.
    • Handlebar Steering: Shake to check for abnormal noise, deformation, bending, or cracks in handlebar, front fork, and shock absorber. Check for oil leakage.
    • Handlebar: Swing upward, downward, forward, backward, left, and right to check for looseness. Rotate to check for tightness.
    • Wheels: Check for smooth rotation, abnormal noise, tightened fixing screws, deformation, or cracks.
    • Tire Tread Groove: Check depth and wear. Replace if worn to the wear mark.
    • Chain: Loosen rear axle nut, adjust chain drawing nut to correct slack (10-15mm movable distance at midpoint), then re-fix nuts.
  • Controller Maintenance: Regularly check fixing screws and wiring. Clean dust from the surface for heat dissipation. Do not wash with water. Do not modify the circuit. Check wiring and fuses. Stop use and seek service if abnormal.
  • Motor Maintenance: Regularly check end cap screws, wiring for looseness, deformation, or damage. Avoid deep water (water surface not exceeding rear axle). Avoid violent impacts, forced running under locked rotor, and overloading. Stop use and seek service if abnormal.
  • Water Washing (Important Notes): Disconnect power before cleaning. Do not touch live parts with wet hands or metal conductors. Do not rinse electrical components with water; wipe with a wet towel. Avoid rinsing charging socket, wiring harness connectors, and fuses. Do not splash water directly on the storage box, brake, motor, and axles. Do not wash with steam or high-pressure water.
  • Storage: Do not store outdoors, under strong light, or below zero temperature. Keep away from heat sources (not less than 2cm). Store in a dry, clean, well-ventilated indoor environment (10°C-45°C, humidity not more than 90%). Charge regularly (every two months) if not used for a long time. Keep away from corrosive liquids and mechanical shock.
  • Transportation: Prevent severe mechanical shock, sunlight, rain, chemical corrosive substances, and harmful gas erosion. Handle gently during loading and unloading.
  • Cleaning: Do not rinse with water. Gently wipe stains on paint/plastic parts with neutral detergent and rag, then clean with a dry cloth. Wipe metal parts with lubricating oil. Do not inject oil into the brake part.
  • Battery Storage: Store at 0°C-25°C. Do not store above 45°C to prevent irreversible capacity degradation. If not used for a long time, remove the battery, store separately, and charge regularly to prevent complete exhaustion and irreversible damage. Optimal storage capacity is 50%. Storing below 10% or above 90% for long periods causes irreversible capacity degradation. Do not store in risky locations.
  • Battery Recycling: Used batteries must not be dismantled without authorization and should be recycled by professional departments. Do not discard used batteries; send them to a designated recycling outlet.
  • Compliance: The product is certified to ANSI/CAN /UL-2272 and the battery complies with UN/DOT 38.3. It also complies with FCC rules (Part 15) and EU WEEE and RoHS directives.
