Introduction
Thank you for purchasing
aldlsl
miniature loudspeaker systems. Your
a/d/sf
speakers contain advanced
technology and precision
components to provide you with
superior stereophonic sound. The
design of the drivers and crossover
networks results in exceptional
imaging and superb transient
response. The high efficiency, deep
bass reach and high acoustic output
capability of your
a/d/sf
speakers are
remarkable in speakers of such
compact dimensions.
Hooking up your speakers is not
difficult, but correct wiring and good
placement make important
differences in sound quality. This
manual provides information on the
placement, connection and operation
of your loudspeakers. Please read it
thoroughly and save it for future
reference.
Placing your speakers
Unpacking Each.speaker is wrapped
in a protective plastic bag for
protection from dust and is packed in
foam shells. Lift the speaker in its
foam shells out of the shipping
carton and then remove the shells
and protective bag.
Where you place the speakers in the
room is important to the sound
quality. To get the best sound,
experiment freely with locations for
your speakers. Here are some general
considerations:
Removing the grille You can
remove the grille by pulling its
corners out a little from the speaker
until the grille is separated from the
lip of the baffle. To replace it, place
the grille over the lip of the baffle
and press for a snug fit.
Boundaries In general,
a/d/s!
speakers have smoothest response
and best stereo imaging when
located a foot or more above the
floor, and two - four feet from side
walls or other major boundaries.
Moving a speaker closer to one or
more boundaries will increase the
bass output. In some rooms, the
extra bass will sound good; in others,
the extra bass will sound boomy or
tubby.
Owner's record In the carton there
are two Owner's Registration
Cards, one for you to keep and one
to send to
a/d/s!.
There also is a sheet
with two self-stick serial number
labels. Complete and mail one Card
to enter your purchase into our files.
Use one Card to record the numbers
for a pair of speakers. Put one of the
two self-stick serial number labels
from each sheet on the Card that
you send to
a/d/s!.
Put the other
serial number label on the Card that
you keep. Save both your sales
receipt and your Owner's
Registration Card for future
reference.
"Hard" surfaces near a speaker can
affect the distribution of higher
frequencies in the room, and
therefore, the precision of the stereo
image. When using corner locations,
aim the speakers towards the center
of the room. When a speaker faces a
bare floor use a rug in front of the
speaker to reduce high frequency
reflections. When a speaker is on a
shelf or tabletop keep the front of
the speaker flush with the edge of
the supporting surface. If this is not
possible, try putting some thick cloth
on the surface directly in front of the
speaker.
Shipping carton Save the carton
and packing material for future use.
Transporting the speaker in anything
other than its factory carton can
result in damage which is not
covered by the warranty.
