Why is there excess water in the brine tank of my A.O. Smith AO-WH-SOFT-PRO-500 Water Dispenser?
    • A
      Anthony JohnsonAug 26, 2025
If your A.O. Smith Water Dispenser has excess water in the brine tank, there might be a few reasons. The drain line could be restricted, frozen, or pinched; if so, remove the restriction, thaw the line, or straighten it. Alternatively, the brine line, brine line flow control, or air check/draw tube might be plugged. In this case, clean the flow control, air check/draw tube, and brine line, and remove any sediment from the brine cabinet. Another possible cause is a plugged injector assembly. Try cleaning or replacing the injector. If the throat is removed, replace the entire assembly.

How to fix an A.O. Smith Water Dispenser that stays in regeneration?
    • K
      Kevin CarneySep 1, 2025
If your A.O. Smith Water Dispenser stays in regeneration mode, several issues could be the cause. First, ensure the controller is properly attached by pushing it all the way onto the cover plate. A defective magnet disk could also be the problem, requiring replacement. Additionally, a foreign object in the main control valve can cause this issue; remove any foreign objects from the main control valve. Lastly, a broken valve assembly with the motor running may be the cause, necessitating repair of the valve assembly.

Why does my A.O. Smith Water Dispenser produce salty water?
    • T
      Terry BennettNov 9, 2025
If you are experiencing salty water from your A.O. Smith Water Dispenser, several factors could be the cause. The injector might be plugged and require replacement of the screen, nozzle, and throat. Low water pressure (below 30 psi or 2.1 bar) can also lead to this issue, so ensure adequate pressure. A restricted drain line or flow control could be the culprit, requiring removal of the restriction. Inspect the brine line for restrictions or crimps, removing any obstructions or replacing the line if crimped. Excessive water in the brine cabinet can also cause salty water; verify the correct water level relative to the salt setting, aiming for an estimated amount of 2-12 inches, and check the brine line and fittings for loose connections. Intermittent pressure drops from the feed source migh...

What to do if my A.O. Smith AO-WH-SOFT-PRO-500 Water Dispenser shows controller error messages?
    • K
      Kristen AcostaNov 17, 2025
If your A.O. Smith Water Dispenser displays controller error messages, here are a few things to check: * **Home not found:** Cycle the power by unplugging the transformer and plugging it back in to allow it to search for Home again. Also, ensure the controller is fully pushed onto the cover plate. * **Motor error:** Unplug and replug all wires in the following sequence: motor, sensor, and power cord. Plug the motor in and cycle the power. If it's already plugged in, the motor wiring or plug may be defective, or there could be a computer problem. * **Home offset:** The disk may not have started in the proper home location. Cycle the power, and the controller will automatically try to reset itself by finding Home and continuing regeneration. Ensure the controller is fully pushed onto...
