Overview

This document is the user manual for the AC-135 Leviosa Shades, providing instructions for programming and operating the motorized window shades.

Function Description

The AC-135 Leviosa Shades are motorized window coverings designed for automated control. They can be linked to a remote control, allowing users to set upper and lower limits for shade movement, as well as up to four intermediate stop positions. The system supports both single-shade and multi-shade configurations, enabling a single remote to control multiple shades or a single shade to be controlled by multiple remotes. The shades are designed to provide convenience and flexibility in managing natural light and privacy within a space.

Important Technical Specifications

While specific technical specifications like motor type, power consumption, or battery life are not detailed, the manual implies the following:

  • Power Source: The shades operate using either a wall adapter or batteries, as indicated by troubleshooting steps that suggest re-plugging the wall adapter or replacing batteries if the motor stops working.
  • Wireless Communication: The system uses radio frequency (RF) for communication between the remote control and the shade motor. This is evident from the FCC Warning Statement, which discusses radio frequency energy and potential interference.
  • Overheat Protection: The motor system includes a mechanism to prevent overheating after "many repeated cycles," suggesting an internal thermal protection feature.
  • Memory: The shades have internal memory to store programmed positions (upper, lower, and intermediate limits) and remote control links. This memory can be deleted to reset the motor to factory settings.
  • Control Channels: Multi-shade remotes support multiple channels, allowing users to select specific shades or groups of shades for control. The manual explicitly states to "Select a single channel, not ALL" during the linking process for individual shade programming.

Usage Features

The AC-135 Leviosa Shades offer several user-friendly features:

Linking to Remote Control

  1. Channel Selection (for Multi-Shade remotes): Users can select a desired channel (starting from 1) using the RIGHT/LEFT buttons on the remote. It's crucial to select a single channel for initial programming, not the "ALL" setting.
  2. Program Button Activation: A paperclip or small screwdriver is used to press and hold a hidden "Program" button on the shade motor. The shade will briefly rotate up and down to confirm activation.
  3. Remote Link Confirmation: Pressing the UP button on the remote once links the shade. The shade will again rotate briefly up and down. Users are advised to test UP/STOP/DOWN buttons.
  4. Reverse Movement Correction: If the shade moves in reverse, users can correct this by pressing and holding the STOP button for 5 seconds, then pressing the DOWN button once.

Setting Shade Positions

  1. Setting Upper Position:
    • Activate programming mode by pressing/holding an inset button on the back of the remote with a paperclip until the shade rotates briefly up and down.
    • Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to move the shade to the desired top position.
    • Confirm the upper limit by pressing/holding the inset button on the back of the remote again until the shade rotates briefly up and down.
  2. Setting Lower Position:
    • Initiate lower limit setting by pressing/holding the DOWN button for 3 seconds. The shade will start moving down.
    • Press STOP when the shade is near the desired lower position.
    • Fine-tune the position using the UP and/or DOWN buttons.
    • Confirm the lower limit by pressing/holding the inset button on the back of the remote until the shade rotates briefly up and down.
  3. Intermediate Stops: Up to 4 intermediate stop positions can be set by following the same procedure as setting the lower position (Step 3) for each desired stop.

Multi-Controller and Multi-Shade Setup

  • Adding a New Controller to a Shade: Multiple remotes can control a single shade by following the "Link the Shade to the Remote Control" instructions (Step 1). Existing upper and lower positions do not need to be reset.
  • Adding a New Shade to a Controller: To control multiple shades with one remote, users must program each shade individually. This involves powering only the shade being programmed, setting its upper/lower positions, then removing power from that shade and repeating the process for the next. Once all shades are programmed, power can be reapplied to all.

Maintenance Features

The manual outlines several maintenance and troubleshooting features:

Deleting Limit Positions

  • Procedure: To delete a specific limit position (excluding the upper limit, which can only be deleted by deleting all positions), move the shade to the position to be deleted using the UP/DOWN buttons. Then, press and hold the inset button on the back of the remote for 7 seconds. The shade will rotate briefly up and down twice, confirming the deletion.
  • Note: The upper limit cannot be deleted unless all positions are deleted.

Deleting ALL Memory

  • Purpose: This feature resets the motor to factory settings, deleting all linked remotes and programmed limits.
  • Procedure: Using a paperclip or small screwdriver, press the PROGRAM BUTTON on the motor (located on the left bracket) four times in a row. The motor will beep after each press. Then, press and hold the button again for 3 seconds until the shade rotates briefly up and down. All memories are then deleted, and the user must restart the linking process from Instruction #1.

Troubleshooting Motor Operation

  • Motor Not Turning After Installation: If the motor doesn't turn, the solution is to "Lift motor, and firmly seat into cradle," suggesting a physical connection issue.
  • Motor Stops Working:
    • Cause 1: Overheating: The system prevents overheating after many repeated cycles. The solution is to wait 10 minutes, after which the motor will work again.
    • Cause 2: Power Issue: The wall adapter might be unplugged, or batteries drained. The solution is to re-plug the wall adapter or replace batteries.

FCC Warning Statement

The manual includes a standard FCC Warning Statement, indicating that the device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. It advises users on potential radio frequency interference and suggests measures to correct it, such as reorienting the antenna, increasing separation from other equipment, or consulting a technician.

General Notes

  • Timing: Crucially, if any action between programming steps takes longer than 30 seconds, the program will not complete, requiring the user to restart that specific step.
  • Resetting: If unsure about the next step or if "everything is messed up," the manual recommends performing the "Delete ALL memory" procedure and starting over from Instruction #1.
