RAID Configuration Modes

RAID 0 (Striping)

Combines two drives for speed, capacity is twice the smaller drive. Data lost if one drive fails.

RAID 1 (Mirroring)

Mirrors data across two drives for redundancy, capacity of the smaller drive. Data safe if one drive fails.

JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks)

Treats drives independently, capacity is the sum of drives. Computer recognizes two separate drives.

SPAN (Concatenation)

Combines capacities of two drives into one large volume. Computer recognizes a single mass storage drive.
