9Remote control
Remote control of the MTS
e
uses either the IEEE 488 standard (or international
equivalent IEC625-1) or RS232 interface.
English is the default language.
This chapter includes:
Remote control principles (link to controller, format of commands, tree
menus of commands)
Description of programming commands and queries.
Connection of the MTS
e
to a PC
The MTS
e
can be remotely controlled via the RS 232-C (type DCE) interface of the
controller or by the IEEE option if it is present in the unit.
Connection via the RS232 interface
Connect the serial remote controller to the 9 pin serial connector (RS232 DTE) of
the MTS
e
.
As PCs are usually configured as DTE, an adaptor (DTE to DCE) may be needed
to connect the PC to the MTS
e
: see "Serial port (RS 232)" on page 4-10.
Local / Remote command
Send the command *REM to go in remote control mode.
Send the command *LOC to return in local mode.
Selection of the transmission parameters
In the SYSTEM / RS232 menu, if necessary modify the following configuration
parameters:
BAUD RATE: 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200
38400, 57600, 115200
CHAR. LENGTH: 7 or 8 bits
STOP BIT: 1 or 2
PARITY: Without, Even, Odd
TERMINATOR: CR, LF, CR LF
PROTOCOL: XON/XOFF, RTS/CTS, WITHOUT
