Overview

The D52 is a 3MP indoor dome camera with a fixed lens, designed for surveillance applications. It supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), simplifying installation by allowing both power and data to be transmitted over a single Ethernet cable.

Function Description

The D52 is a cutting-edge digital video surveillance camera capable of compressing and transmitting real-time images with outstanding image quality through a standard TCP/IP network. This camera is an intelligent IP surveillance system, offering robust video monitoring capabilities for indoor environments.

Usage Features

  • High-Performance Video Compression: The D52 supports H.264 High Profile/MJPEG Multi-Codec Dual Streaming. This device provides two compression formats, H.264 High Profile and MJPEG, allowing for flexible video quality and file size management. It delivers superior image quality at 15 frames per second (fps) up to a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. For Full HD 1080p (1920x1080), 720p (1280x720), and VGA (640x480) resolutions, it achieves 30 frames per second, ensuring smooth and detailed video capture.
  • Built-in Hardware Motion Detection: The camera incorporates hardware motion detection, eliminating the need for external motion sensors. Users can configure up to three video motion detection areas. This feature enhances security by reliably detecting objects passing through the camera's view, with hardware motion detection offering better sensitivity and faster response time than software motion detection.
  • Powerful Bundled Surveillance Software: The D52 comes with powerful surveillance program capabilities, included in the package for free. Users can easily use an existing PC as a digital video recorder. The scheduled recording and manual recording features ensure that every important video is recorded to the local hard disk. Reliable and accurate motion detection with instant warning enables immediate response in every condition. Quick and simple search and playback functions make it easy to find and review recorded videos.
  • Software Development Kit Support: This IP camera can be integrated or controlled by applications from third-party software developers. Software developers can leverage the available Software Development Kit (SDK) to create customized solutions or integrate the camera into existing systems, including ACTi's Streaming Library or ActiveX control, ensuring broad compatibility and expandability.
  • Flexible Mounting Options: The D52 can be installed using either a ceiling mount or a wall mount.
    • Ceiling Mount: Installation involves using a drill template to create a hole (φ35) on the ceiling. The mounting plate is then secured to the ceiling with T4*20 screws (flat-head screws are not recommended). Cables are routed through the hole in the ceiling and plate, or through the side of the casing. The camera is then fastened to the ceiling by turning it clockwise. A small strap, included in the accessory bundle, is used to secure the network cable.
    • Wall Mount: For wall mounting, the wall mount bracket is first tightened to the wall using three PAN Head Tapping screws. The mounting plate is then attached to the wall mount bracket with M4*6 screws (again, flat-head screws are not recommended). All necessary cables are routed through the hole in the plate and wall mount kit. Similar to ceiling mount, the camera is fastened to the wall mount kit by turning it clockwise.
  • Adjustable Viewing Angle and Focus: After installation, the front cover can be removed by turning it counterclockwise to adjust the viewing angle. The pan and tilt direction can be adjusted based on the live view from the camera. The focus of the lens can also be manually adjusted to ensure clear images. Once adjustments are complete, the dome cover is attached by pushing it into the groove until it clicks.
  • Network Connectivity: The D52 connects to the Ethernet via a standard RJ45 connector, supporting NWAY for auto-detection of local network segment speed (10Base-T/100Base-TX Ethernet). It supports various network protocols and services, including TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, PPPoE, RTP, RTSP, IPv6, DNS, DDNS, NTP, ICMP, ARP, IGMP, SMTP, FTP, UPnP, SNMP, and Bonjour. Security features include IP address filtering, HTTPS encryption, password-protected user levels, and IEEE 802.1X network access control.
  • Alarm Features: The camera supports video motion detection with up to three configurable regions. Alarm responses can include notifying a control center, changing camera settings, commanding other devices, sending e-mail notifications with snapshots, and uploading video or snapshots to an FTP server.
  • Accessing the Camera:
    • With DHCP Server/Router: If a DHCP server/router is present in the network, the IP camera will automatically acquire an IP address. Users can find and access the device using the ACTi IP Utility program, available for download from the ACTi website.
    • Without DHCP Server/Router: If no DHCP server/router is available, the PC's IP address must be configured to the same subnet as the camera (default IP: 192.168.0.100). The PC's IP address should be set to 192.168.0.XXX (where XXX is any number from 1 to 254, excluding 100 and other occupied IPs) with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. After configuring the PC, users can open Internet Explorer (version 6.0 or above) and type the camera's default IP (192.168.0.100) into the address bar. The default login credentials are "admin" for the user and "123456" for the password. For multiple devices, it is crucial to change the IP mode to Static and assign a unique, unused IP address to each camera to avoid conflicts.

Maintenance Features

  • Safety Instructions: Users are advised not to open the housing of the product to avoid dangerous voltage or other hazards. All servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.
  • Cleaning: Before cleaning the device, it must be disconnected from the power supply.
  • Attachments and Accessories: Only attachments and accessories recommended by the manufacturer should be used to prevent hazards.
  • Environmental Protection: The device should not be used near water (e.g., bathtubs, washbowls, wet basements) and should only be installed in a dry place protected from weather.
  • Damage Requiring Service: In case of damage to the power-supply cord or plug, liquid spills, objects falling into the product, direct exposure to rain or water, or abnormal operation, the device should be immediately disconnected from the power supply, and servicing should be referred to qualified personnel. Adjustments should only be made to controls covered in the instruction manual, as improper adjustments can lead to damage and require extensive professional repair.
  • Safety Check: After any service or repair, a safety check should be performed by a service technician to ensure the device is in proper operating condition.
  • Reset Button: The D52 includes a reset button. To restore factory default settings, press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds while the unit is powered on. The Ethernet LED will turn off for 1-2 seconds and then flash, indicating that the reset operation is complete. The unit will then restart with factory default settings.
