8. Set the Tire Pressures, and Initiate the TPMS
To prevent flat spots during vehicle shipping and storage, the tires are inflated to over 40 psi. If the vehicle is going into
dealer storage, leave the tire pressures at 40 psi until it is sold. If the vehicle is moved to the sales lot or is sold, set the
tire pressures as follows:
NOTES
Be sure to follow this procedure exactly as written. If you fail to do this, the MID may not show the tire pressures.
If you are in a cold climate region, make sure the tires are at the same temperature as the outside air before
adjusting the pressures; otherwise, the Low Tire Pressure/TPMS indicator may come on in cold weather.
8.1. Turn the ignition to ON.
8.2. Use a tire pressure gauge with a bleeder valve to quickly lower the pressure in each tire to around 28 psi.
8.3. Set the pressure in each tire to the recommended value listed on the driver's doorjamb label, and check it with a
hand-held gauge.
8.4. Test-drive the vehicle for at least 1 minute above 22 mph. If the MID does not show the tire pressures, make sure
you completed the test-drive as specified.
Check the spare tire pressure (if equipped).
8.1. Lower the spare tire all the way to the ground.
8.2. Set the spare tire pressure to the recommended value listed on the driver's doorjamb label, and check it with a
hand-held gauge.
8.3. Before raising the spare tire back into the vehicle, make sure the spare tire hoist bracket is centered in the hub
opening of the wheel.
8.4. Raise the spare tire. If the bracket is correctly positioned, the spare tire will be close to level as it is raised. If the
bracket is not correctly positioned, the spare tire will not be level as it is raised and will not seat flush under the
vehicle.

8.5. Using the appropriate tools in the vehicle, tighten the spare tire hoist until it clicks. Failure to do this can result in
