Do you have a question about the ADJ PIXIE STRIP 30 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The ADJ Pixie Strip is a versatile pixel batten designed for dynamic lighting displays, combining vibrant LEDs with intelligently-designed housings to create a powerful and adaptable system. These devices are specifically intended for use in conjunction with the ADJ Pixie Driver 2000, ensuring reliable performance when operated according to the guidelines in this manual. The Pixie Strip is available in three models: Pixie Strip 30, Pixie Strip 60, and Pixie Strip 120, offering different lengths to suit various installation needs.

Function Description

The primary function of the Pixie Strip is to provide pixel-mappable LED lighting, allowing for intricate and customizable light shows. Each strip is equipped with SMD RGB 3-in-1 LEDs, capable of producing a wide spectrum of colors with 8 bits per color (24 bits per pixel) resolution. This high-resolution color control enables smooth transitions and precise color mixing, making it suitable for professional stage lighting, architectural illumination, and event production. The devices feature a wide viewing angle of 120 x 120 degrees, ensuring broad light distribution and visibility from various perspectives. With 60 pixels per meter and a pixel pitch of 16.5mm (pixel center-to-center), the Pixie Strip offers a dense array of individually controllable light points, facilitating complex visual effects. The high PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) of 44,000Hz ensures flicker-free operation, which is crucial for video recording and broadcast applications.

The Pixie Strip units are designed to be daisy-chained together, allowing for scalable installations. They feature 4-pin Power/Data In and Power/Data Out ports, enabling multiple fixtures to be connected to a single driver output port. The maximum number of fixtures that can be daisy-chained is determined by the ADJ Pixie Driver 2000's output limitations and the RGB pixel control configuration. The Pixie Driver 2000 is programmed to prevent exceeding its output limitations by restricting the number of Pixie Strip units that can be selected in its System Menu. This integrated control system simplifies setup and ensures optimal performance.

Usage Features

The Pixie Strip is built with a lightweight aluminum housing, making it easy to handle and install. It incorporates magnetic end caps, which facilitate quick and secure attachment to various surfaces or other Pixie Strip units, allowing for seamless integration into larger setups. Each unit includes an integrated adjustable mounting bracket, providing flexibility in positioning and aiming the light output. A safety cable loop is also included, emphasizing safe installation practices in suspended environments.

The product comes with a variety of covers to modify the light output and aesthetic. Included items are a round frosted cover, a square frosted cover, a round smoked cover, and a square smoked cover. These interchangeable covers allow users to customize the diffusion and appearance of the light, adapting the fixture to different visual requirements. A 4-pin power/data cable is also supplied, ready for immediate connection.

Installation of the Pixie Strip requires adherence to local, national, and country commercial electrical and construction codes and regulations. For suspended installations, a professional equipment installer must be consulted to ensure the metal truss, structure, or surface can safely support the combined weight of the fixture(s), clamps, cables, and other accessories. When mounting in a suspended environment, an appropriately rated clamp (not included) should be secured to the mounting bracket, and a separate safety cable (not included) must be attached to the safety cable attachment point to prevent falls in case of clamp failure.

The device is intended for indoor use only, and outdoor use voids all warranties. It is crucial to keep flammable materials at least 5.0 feet (1.5m) away from the fixture and/or pyrotechnics. Proper ventilation is also essential; the device should be mounted in an area that allows about 6 inches (15cm) of space between the fixture and a wall, and ventilation holes should never be blocked.

For connecting multiple devices, 12-AWG or 16-AWG 4-pin extension cables can be used. There are specific maximum allowable cable lengths: 59 feet (18m) for connecting a controller and a device, 32 feet (10m) for connecting two devices, and a total of 213 feet (65m) for 12-AWG or 98 feet (30m) for 16-AWG in a single chain. These guidelines ensure stable power and data transmission across the entire lighting setup.

Maintenance Features

The Pixie Strip is designed with no user-serviceable parts inside, meaning users should not attempt any repairs themselves, as this will void the manufacturer's warranty. In the unlikely event that the unit requires service, users are instructed to contact ADJ Products, LLC.

For warranty service, a Return Authorization (RA) number must be obtained from ADJ Products, LLC Service Department before sending the product back. All shipping charges for returned items must be pre-paid. If the repairs are covered under warranty, ADJ Products, LLC will cover return shipping charges to a designated point within the United States. The product should be shipped in its original packaging without any accessories. The warranty is void if the serial number is altered or removed, if the product is modified in any manner that affects its reliability, if repairs are attempted by unauthorized personnel, or if the product is damaged due to improper maintenance.

Regular maintenance includes ensuring the device is disconnected from main power when not in use to save energy and prevent power consumption in idle mode. The power cord should be routed out of the way of foot traffic to prevent damage. The packing carton should be saved for potential future service needs.

The device has an IP20 rating, meaning it is protected against solid objects approximately the size of an adult finger or larger. However, it is not protected against liquid intrusion of any kind, so it must not be exposed to rain or moisture, and no water or other liquids should be spilled into or onto the device. If the power-supply cord or plug is damaged, if objects have fallen on or liquid has been spilled into the device, if the device has been exposed to rain or water, or if it does not appear to operate normally, it should be serviced by qualified service personnel.

The manual also emphasizes the importance of recycling the shipping carton whenever possible, promoting environmental responsibility.
