Overview

This document is a user manual for an AEG ABE8122VNC freezer. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Function Description

The AEG ABE8122VNC is a freezer designed for household and similar applications, including farmhouses, staff kitchen areas, offices, and other working environments, as well as hotels, motels, bed and breakfast establishments, and other residential settings. Its primary function is to freeze fresh food and store frozen and deep-frozen food for extended periods. The appliance utilizes isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.

Key functions include:

  • Freezing Fresh Food: The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food. The FROSTMATIC function accelerates the freezing process and protects already stored foodstuffs from undesirable warming.
  • Storage of Frozen Food: It provides ample space for storing frozen goods, with cold accumulators to increase storage time during power cuts.
  • Ice-cube Production: The appliance is equipped with trays for making ice cubes.
  • Temperature Regulation: Users can adjust the freezer's set temperature to suit their needs.
  • FROSTMATIC Function: This feature rapidly freezes fresh food and automatically deactivates after 52 hours.
  • ChildLock Function: This function locks the control panel buttons to prevent unintentional operation.
  • MinuteMinder Function: An acoustic alarm can be set for a preferred time, useful for cooling food products or as a reminder.

Usage Features

The freezer is designed for user-friendly operation with a clear control panel and display.

Control Panel and Display:

  • The control panel includes a display, temperature warmer and colder buttons, an OK button, a Mode button, and an ON/OFF button.
  • The display shows the timer indicator, FROSTMATIC function status, temperature indicator, alarm indicator, ChildLock function status, and MinuteMinder function status.
  • Predefined button sounds can be changed by pressing the Mode and temperature colder buttons simultaneously.

Switching On and Off:

  • To switch on, connect the mains plug and press the ON/OFF button if the display is off. The temperature indicators will show the default temperature.
  • To switch off, press the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds.

Temperature Regulation:

  • The set temperature can be adjusted using the temperature buttons. The default temperature is -18°C. The set temperature is reached within 24 hours and remains stored after a power failure.

FROSTMATIC Function:

  • Activate by pressing the Mode button until the icon flashes, then confirm with the OK button. The function stops automatically or can be manually switched off.

ChildLock Function:

  • Activate by pressing the Mode button until the icon flashes, then confirm with the OK button. Deactivate by repeating the process until the icon disappears.

MinuteMinder Function:

  • Activate by pressing the Mode button until the icon flashes. Adjust the timer value (1 to 90 minutes) using the regulator and confirm with the OK button. An audible alarm sounds at the end of the countdown.

Alarms:

  • Door Open Alarm: An acoustic alarm and flashing alarm indicator sound if the door is left open for a few minutes.
  • High Temperature Alarm: Flashing alarm and freezer temperature indicators, along with an acoustic buzzer, signal an increase in freezer temperature (e.g., due to a power failure).

Freezing and Storage Tips:

  • Place fresh food in the two top compartments for freezing.
  • The maximum freezing capacity in 24 hours is specified on the rating plate.
  • Do not add more food to be frozen during the 24-hour freezing process.
  • Wrap food in aluminium foil or polythene to ensure airtight packages.
  • Avoid contact between fresh and already frozen food.
  • Store lean foods better and longer; salt reduces storage life.
  • Do not consume water ices immediately after removal to avoid freeze burn.
  • Label packages with the freezing date to track storage time.
  • In case of accidental defrosting due to power failure, consume defrosted food quickly or cook and refreeze after cooling.
