Overview

This document serves as a user manual for AEG cooker hoods, specifically models DVE5971HG and DVE5671HG, providing essential information for installation, daily use, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The manual emphasizes safety, proper operation, and care to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.

Function Description

The AEG cooker hood is designed for domestic use above hobs, cookers, and similar cooking devices to extract smoke, steam, and odors from the kitchen environment. It can operate at various fan speeds to suit different cooking intensities, from gentle heating to boiling and frying large quantities of food. The appliance also features a "Breeze" function for quiet air refreshment after cooking.

A key feature is the "Hob²Hood" function, an automatic system that connects the hob with the hood via infrared signals. This allows the hood's fan speed to be automatically adjusted based on the hob's mode settings and the temperature of the hottest cookware. Users can also manually control the fan from the hob, offering integrated and convenient operation.

The control panel, a sensor field, allows users to turn the hood on and off, select fan speeds (First, Second, Third, and Maximum), activate the "Breeze" function, and control the lighting. An indicator for the "Hob²Hood" function is also present.

Usage Features

To operate the hood, users first turn on the appliance via the "On/Off" symbol. Functions are then activated by touching the corresponding symbols on the control panel. The manual recommends selecting a fan speed based on the cooking activity:

  • First speed: For heating food or cooking with covered pots.
  • Second speed: For cooking with covered pots on multiple cooking zones or burners, or gentle frying.
  • Third speed: For boiling and frying large quantities of food without a lid, or cooking on multiple cooking zones or burners.
  • Maximum speed: For boiling and frying large quantities of food without a lid, especially with high humidity. This speed operates for 8 minutes before returning to previous settings.
  • Breeze function: Refreshes kitchen air at a very low noise level after cooking. It automatically turns off after 60 minutes.

The lighting can be turned on or off by touching the light symbol. For optimal air extraction, it is recommended to leave the hood operating for approximately 15 minutes after cooking.

The "Hob²Hood" function simplifies operation by automating fan speed adjustments, reducing the need for manual intervention during cooking. Detailed instructions for using this function are typically found in the hob's user manual.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the cooker hood's performance and safety. The manual highlights several maintenance aspects:

Filter Notification: The appliance includes a filter alarm system. The filter indicator will turn red for 30 seconds to remind users to clean the grease filter. If the charcoal filter needs to be replaced or cleaned, the indicator will flash red for 30 seconds. This notification system helps ensure timely maintenance.

Cleaning the Grease Filter: Grease filters should be cleaned regularly, at least every two months, to prevent fire risks and maintain efficiency. To clean, users pull open the cover, press the handle of the mounting clip on the filter panel, and then slightly tilt and pull the filter downwards. Filters can be cleaned with a sponge using non-abrasive detergents or in a dishwasher. If using a dishwasher, a low temperature and short cycle are recommended, as discoloration of the filter may occur but does not affect performance.

Replacing the Charcoal Filter: Charcoal filters, which are non-washable and cannot be regenerated, must be replaced when the filter alarm indicates. To replace, users first remove the grease filters, then turn the charcoal filter counterclockwise and pull it out. New filters are mounted by reversing these steps. The saturation time of the charcoal filter varies based on cooking type and grease filter cleaning regularity.

General Cleaning: The appliance's surface should be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent to prevent material deterioration. Abrasive detergents, brushes, steam cleaners, water sprays, or sharp metal scrapers should not be used. After cooking, parts of the appliance can become hot, so it should be allowed to cool down and then dried with a clean cloth or paper towels to avoid stains. The interior of the appliance should also be cleaned with a cloth.

Lamp Replacement: The appliance is equipped with LED lamps and a separate LED driver. These components can only be replaced by a qualified technician. In case of a malfunction, users are advised to contact an Authorized Service Centre.

The manual stresses the importance of following all cleaning instructions and safety guidelines to ensure the appliance remains in good working condition and to prevent potential hazards.
