Overview

This document is a user manual for the AEG FEE63600ZM dishwasher, providing comprehensive information on its operation, maintenance, and safety.

Function Description

The AEG FEE63600ZM is a dishwasher designed for household use, capable of washing crockery, cutlery, and pots. It features a water softener system that removes minerals from the water supply to improve washing results and protect the appliance. The dishwasher offers various programmes tailored to different load types and soil degrees, including an ECO programme for efficient water and energy consumption, and an AUTO programme that automatically adjusts settings based on soil level and load quantity. A special programme is also available for cleaning the appliance interior, removing limescale and grease buildup. The appliance includes a rinse aid dispenser that automatically releases rinse aid during the hot rinse phase to ensure streak-free and stain-free drying.

Usage Features

The dishwasher is activated by pressing the on/off button, after which users can select a programme using the Program button. The display shows the programme duration, and various indicators provide information on the current washing phase, salt and rinse aid levels, and activated options.

Key usage features include:

  • Programme Selection: Users can choose from a range of programmes like ECO, 160min, 90min, 60min, 30min, and AUTO, each suited for specific types of loads and soil levels. A "None" programme is available for quick rinsing without detergent.
  • Options: The dishwasher offers several options to enhance washing and drying results:
    • GlassCare: Protects delicate items, especially glassware, by preventing rapid changes in dishwashing temperature and reducing it to 45 °C.
    • ExtraPower: Improves washing results by increasing wash temperature and duration.
    • ExtraHygiene: Provides better cleaning by maintaining a temperature between 65 and 70 °C for at least 10 minutes during the final rinsing phase.
  • Delay Start: Users can set a delay for the programme start, ranging from 1 to 24 hours, allowing for flexible scheduling.
  • AirDry Function: This feature improves drying results and reduces energy consumption by automatically opening the appliance door during the drying phase. The door remains ajar, and the display shows the remaining programme time. This function can be deactivated if desired, especially in households with children.
  • Detergent Dispensing: The appliance has a compartment for powder or tablet detergent and a separate area for prewash detergent if required by the programme.
  • Loading Baskets: The dishwasher includes upper and lower baskets, and a cutlery basket, designed for optimal arrangement of items. Hollow items should be placed with openings facing downwards, and delicate items should be placed in the upper basket.
  • Auto Off Function: To save energy, the appliance automatically deactivates when a programme is complete or if no programme is started within 5 minutes.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the dishwasher. The manual outlines several maintenance procedures:

  • Salt Container Refill: The salt indicator illuminates when the salt container needs refilling. Users must use rough salt specifically designed for dishwashers to recharge the water softener resin. The process involves turning the cap counterclockwise, adding 1 litre of water (first time only), filling with 1 kg of salt, and then closing the cap.
  • Rinse Aid Dispenser Refill: The rinse aid indicator signals when the dispenser needs refilling. The dispenser is filled until the rinse aid reaches the "MAX" marking. The released quantity of rinse aid can be adjusted between positions 1 (lowest) and 4 or 6 (highest). The rinse aid empty notification can also be deactivated if multi-tablets are used and drying results are satisfactory.
  • Water Softener Adjustment: The water softener level should be adjusted according to the local water hardness to ensure good washing results. This setting is accessed through the user mode.
  • Filter Cleaning: The filter system, consisting of three parts (flat filter, main filter, and microfilter), should be checked and cleaned regularly to prevent decreased washing performance and damage to the drain pump. The filters are removed by turning counterclockwise, disassembled, washed under running water, and then reassembled and locked into position.
  • Spray Arm Cleaning: The lower and upper spray arms should be cleaned regularly to prevent soil from clogging the holes, which can lead to unsatisfactory washing results. The lower spray arm can be removed by pulling it upwards for cleaning, while the upper spray arm's openings can be cleaned with a thin pointed tool.
  • Internal Cleaning: The appliance interior should be cleaned with a moist soft cloth. Abrasive products, sharp tools, strong chemicals, or scourers should not be used. The door, including the rubber gasket, should be wiped clean weekly. To maintain performance and prevent limescale and grease buildup, a dishwasher cleaning product should be used at least once every two months, preferably with the automatic cleaning programme. Running long-duration programmes regularly also helps prevent buildup.
  • External Cleaning: The exterior of the appliance should be cleaned with a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents only.

The manual also provides troubleshooting guidance for common problems and alarm codes, advising users to check various components and settings before contacting an Authorised Service Centre. It emphasizes the importance of using original spare parts for repairs and warns against self-repair.
