Usage Features

The hob is operated via a control knob.

  • Ignition: To light the burner, push the control knob down and turn it counterclockwise to the maximum gas supply position (indicated by a flame symbol). Keep the knob pushed for 10 seconds or less to allow the thermocouple to warm up. If the burner does not light after a few tries, check the position of the crown and cap. If the burner accidentally goes out, turn the control knob to the off position and try to light it again after one minute. In the absence of electricity, the burner can be ignited with a flame source while pushing and turning the control knob.
  • Flame Adjustment: The control knob allows for progressive flame regulation, from maximum to minimum gas supply (indicated by a smaller flame symbol). The progressive valves provide more precise flame control.
  • Turning Off: To extinguish the flame, turn the control knob to the off position (indicated by a solid circle).
  • Wok Stand: A wok stand is supplied for using round-bottomed woks on the Double Crown burner. It must be securely fitted onto the pan supports.
  • Cookware: Use stable cookware with a diameter between 220-300 mm for the Double Crown burner. Cookware bottoms should be clean. Avoid using cast iron pans, potstones, earthenware, grill, or toaster plates. Ensure pots are centrally positioned on the burner for stability and efficient gas consumption. Pot handles should not extend above the front edge of the cooktop.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the hob's longevity and performance.

  • General Cleaning:
    • Clean the hob after each use.
    • Always use cookware with clean bottoms.
    • Scratches or dark stains on the surface do not affect hob operation.
    • Use a special cleaner for the hob surface.
    • Do not use knives, scrapers, or similar instruments to clean the glass surface or between burner rims and the frame.
    • Wash stainless steel parts with water and dry with a soft cloth.
  • Pan Supports:
    • Pan supports are not dishwasher-safe and must be washed by hand with warm soapy water.
    • Remove pan supports for easier hob cleaning. They are placed on metal pins at the rear of the hob. Lift them horizontally to avoid damage to the pins.
    • Ensure pan supports are correctly positioned after cleaning, with their arms aligned with the burner's center.
  • Immediate Cleaning: Immediately remove melted plastic, plastic foil, sugar, and food with sugar to prevent damage.
  • Cool Cleaning: Once the hob is sufficiently cool, remove limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discoloration with a moist cloth and non-abrasive detergent.
  • Enamelled Parts, Cap, and Crown: Wash these parts with warm soapy water and dry them carefully before reassembling.
  • Spark Plug: Keep the ceramic ignition candle and metal electrode clean to prevent difficult lighting. Ensure burner crown holes are unobstructed.
  • Periodic Maintenance: Periodically contact an Authorised Service Centre to check the gas supply pipe and pressure adjuster (if fitted).

Safety Information

The manual emphasizes several safety warnings:

  • Children and Vulnerable People: The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above and persons with reduced capabilities under supervision. Children must not play with the appliance or perform cleaning/maintenance unsupervised. Keep children under 3 away when in operation.
  • General Safety: The appliance and accessible parts become hot during use. Do not operate with an external timer or remote control. Unattended cooking with fat/oil is dangerous. Never extinguish a fat/oil fire with water; switch off the appliance and cover the flame. Supervise cooking processes continuously. Do not store items on cooking surfaces. Metallic objects should not be placed on the hob. Do not use a steam cleaner. If the glass ceramic surface is cracked, switch off the appliance immediately and disconnect from power.
  • Installation: Installation must be carried out by a qualified person. Remove all packaging. Do not install a damaged appliance. Follow instructions, maintain minimum distances from other appliances, and use safety gloves/footwear. Seal cut surfaces against moisture. Protect the bottom from steam. Do not install near doors/windows. Ensure adequate air circulation. If installed above drawers, ensure sufficient space. An intermediate protection panel must be fitted if an oven is not underneath and the underside is accessible.
  • Electrical Connection: All electrical connections by a qualified electrician. Appliance must be earthed. Disconnect from power before operations. Ensure electrical information matches supply. Use correct mains cable, avoid tangling. Install shock protection. Use strain relief clamp. Mains cable/plug must not touch hot appliance/cookware. Do not use multi-plug adapters/extension cables. Do not damage mains plug/cable. Ensure shock protection cannot be removed without tools. Mains plug must be accessible after installation. Do not connect if mains socket is loose.
  • Gas Connection: All gas connections by a qualified GAS SAFE REGISTER installer. Ensure local distribution conditions (gas type, pressure) are compatible. Ensure air circulation. Information on rating plate. Connect according to current installation regulations, ensuring adequate ventilation. Use rigid or semi-rigid pipes (steel/copper). Connection to R 1/2 (1/2 BSP male thread). Perform thorough leak test after connection. Main connection pipe must not exert strain on the hob. Flexible metal pipes must comply with ISO 10380 and ISO 10807 standards and avoid contact with mobile parts or squeezing. Install elbow correctly. Ensure gas supply pressure meets recommended values.
  • Use: Remove packaging/labels before first use. Use in household environment. Do not modify specifications. Do not block ventilation openings. Do not leave unattended. Set cooking zone to "off" after each use. Do not place cutlery/saucepan lids on hot cooking zones. Do not operate with wet hands. Do not use as work/storage surface. Hot oil may splash. Fats/oils release flammable vapours; keep flames away. Used oil can cause fire at lower temperatures. Do not place flammable products near the appliance. Do not keep hot cookware on the control panel. Do not let cookware boil dry. Avoid dropping objects/cookware. Do not activate empty cooking zones. Do not put aluminum foil on the appliance. Cookware made of cast iron, aluminum, or with damaged bottoms can scratch the glass. Lift objects when moving them. Use only stable cookware of correct shape/diameter. Center cookware. Ensure flame does not go out when quickly turning knob. Use only supplied accessories.
  • Disposal: Contact municipal authority for correct disposal. Disconnect from mains, cut off mains electrical cable, and flatten external gas pipes.
  • Service: Contact an Authorised Service Centre for repairs. Use original spare parts.

The manual also includes instructions for injector replacement and adjustment of the minimum flame level, which are tasks that should ideally be performed by qualified personnel or with extreme care following the detailed steps provided. It also provides guidance on energy saving practices, such as using lids, turning down the flame once liquid boils, and using a pressure cooker.
