Overview

This document is a user manual for the AEG IKB64431FB induction hob, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, daily use, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The hob is designed for household cooking purposes and features four induction cooking zones, each with its own control panel.

Function Description

The AEG IKB64431FB hob utilizes induction technology, which generates heat directly in the bottom of the cookware through a strong electromagnetic field, ensuring rapid heating. The hob is equipped with a control panel that uses sensor fields for operation, providing visual and auditory feedback on active functions.

Key functions include:

  • ON/OFF: Activates and deactivates the hob.
  • Heat Setting: Allows users to set and adjust the heat level for each cooking zone using a control bar. Heat settings range from 0 (deactivated) to 14.
  • Timer Functions:
    • Count Down Timer: Sets a specific cooking duration for a zone (00-99 minutes). An acoustic signal sounds when the time ends, and the zone deactivates.
    • Count Up Timer: Monitors the duration a cooking zone has been operating, displaying the time in minutes.
    • Minute Minder: Functions as a standalone timer when cooking zones are not active, useful for general kitchen timing.
  • PowerBoost: Provides additional power to induction cooking zones for a limited period, accelerating the heating process. After this period, the zone automatically reverts to its highest heat setting.
  • Automatic Heat Up: Activates a cooking zone at its highest setting initially, then automatically reduces to the desired heat setting, speeding up the cooking process. This function can only be activated when the cooking zone is cold.
  • Pause: Sets all active cooking zones to the lowest heat setting (level 1) and locks other control panel symbols, allowing for temporary interruptions without losing settings.
  • Lock / Child Safety Device: Prevents accidental operation of the hob. It can lock the control panel while cooking zones are active or prevent activation when the hob is off.
  • OptiHeat Control (3-step Residual Heat Indicator): Displays the level of residual heat in a cooking zone after use (continue cooking, keep warm, or residual heat), helping to prevent burns and optimize energy use.
  • Automatic Switch Off: Deactivates the hob automatically under certain conditions, such as all zones being off, no heat setting being selected, spills on the control panel, overheating, or prolonged operation without changes to the heat setting.
  • Hob²Hood: An advanced automatic function that connects the hob to a compatible AEG hood via infrared signals. The fan speed of the hood is automatically adjusted based on the hob's mode setting and the temperature of the hottest cookware. Users can also manually control the fan speed from the hob. This function includes automatic light activation on the hood when the hob is in use.
  • Power Management: Groups cooking zones by phase and distributes power to prevent exceeding the maximum electricity loading per phase (3700 W). If the total loading exceeds this, the function reduces power to other zones on the same phase.
  • OffSound Control: Allows users to deactivate or activate the hob's acoustic signals, providing a quieter cooking experience if desired.

Usage Features

The hob is designed for intuitive use with its sensor-based control panel. Users interact with touch-sensitive fields to select zones, adjust settings, and activate functions. The induction technology ensures efficient and fast cooking, with cookware adapting automatically to the dimension of the cooking zone. For optimal results, it is recommended to use cookware with a flat and thick bottom, made of suitable materials like cast iron, steel, or stainless steel. The hob can accommodate large cookware spanning two cooking zones simultaneously, provided it covers the centers of both zones.

The Hob²Hood function simplifies kitchen ventilation by automating fan speed adjustments, reducing the need for manual intervention. Users can also manually override the automatic fan speed settings from the hob. The residual heat indicator promotes energy saving by allowing users to continue cooking or keep food warm using residual heat.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is essential for maintaining the hob's surface material and performance.

  • Daily Cleaning: The hob should be cleaned after each use with a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents.
  • Stain Removal: Limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discoloration should be removed when the hob is cool using a moist cloth and a non-abrasive detergent, or a solution of water with vinegar for metallic discoloration.
  • Immediate Removal: Melted plastic, plastic foil, sugar, and food containing sugar should be removed immediately with a special hob scraper to prevent damage to the glass ceramic surface.
  • Cookware Care: Always ensure cookware bases are clean and dry before placing them on the hob surface to prevent scratches.
  • Avoidance: Do not use abrasive products, abrasive cleaning pads, solvents, metal objects, or steam cleaners. Do not operate the hob with wet hands.

In case of a cracked glass ceramic surface, the appliance must be immediately disconnected from the power supply to prevent electrical shock, and an Authorized Service Centre should be contacted. The manual also advises against storing items on cooking surfaces or placing metallic objects on the hob, as they can become hot. For any repairs, only original spare parts should be used, and an Authorized Service Centre should be contacted.
