This document provides a comprehensive user manual for an AEG induction hob, model IKE74471FB, designed for household cooking. It covers safety information, installation, product description, daily use, flexible induction cooking area features, hints and tips, care and cleaning, troubleshooting, and energy efficiency.
Function Description
The AEG IKE74471FB is a built-in induction hob with two cooking zones and one flexible induction cooking area, which consists of four sections. Induction cooking zones generate heat directly in the bottom of the cookware through an electromagnetic field, ensuring rapid heating and energy efficiency. The hob features a control panel with sensor fields, displays, and indicators to manage various functions.
Key functions include:
- ON/OFF: Activates and deactivates the hob.
- Heat Setting: Allows users to set the desired cooking temperature from 1 to 14 using a control bar.
- Timer: Includes a Count Down Timer for setting specific cooking durations (00-99 minutes) and a CountUp Timer to monitor cooking zone operation time.
- PowerBoost: Provides additional power to induction cooking zones for a limited period, accelerating heating.
- Automatic Heat Up: Quickly reaches a desired heat setting by initially operating at the highest setting before adjusting.
- Lock / Child Safety Device: Locks the control panel to prevent accidental changes to heat settings or operation, and prevents accidental activation of the hob.
- OptiHeat Control (3-step Residual Heat Indicator): Displays residual heat levels (continue cooking, keep warm, residual heat) to prevent burns and utilize remaining heat.
- Automatic Switch Off: Deactivates the hob automatically under certain conditions, such as no heat setting after activation, spills on the control panel, overheating, or incorrect cookware.
- Power Management: Divides power between cooking zones connected to the same phase to prevent exceeding maximum electricity loading (3700 W per phase).
- Hob²Hood: An advanced automatic function that connects the hob to a special hood via an infra-red signal communicator. It automatically adjusts the fan speed based on the hob's mode setting and the temperature of the hottest cookware. Manual fan speed control is also available.
- FlexiBridge: This flexible induction cooking area allows combining four sections into two separate cooking zones of different sizes, or one large cooking area. It offers three modes: Standard, Big Bridge, and Max Bridge, to accommodate various cookware sizes and shapes.
- PowerSlide: Divides the induction cooking area into three areas with different heat settings (front, middle, rear) to allow temperature adjustment by simply moving the cookware.
Usage Features
The hob is designed for intuitive and safe operation:
- Cookware Placement: Cookware should be placed centrally on the selected zone. Induction zones automatically adapt to the cookware's bottom dimension. For flexible areas, cookware should cover the selected area as much as possible.
- Heat Setting Adjustment: Heat settings are adjusted by touching or sliding a finger along the control bar.
- Timer Operation: The Count Down Timer is set after selecting a heat setting, while the CountUp Timer monitors operation time.
- Hob²Hood Modes: Users can select from various automatic modes (H0-H6) that control the hood's fan speed and light based on cooking activity. Manual fan speed adjustment is also possible.
- FlexiBridge Modes: Three modes (Standard, Big Bridge, Max Bridge) allow flexible configuration of the cooking area. The mode is selected via a dedicated sensor field, and heat settings are managed by the left-side control bars.
- PowerSlide Operation: Cookware can be moved between front (highest heat), middle, and rear positions to adjust temperature without changing the heat setting manually. Only one pot should be used with this function.
- Minute Minder: Can be used independently of cooking zones to set a time alarm.
- OffSound Control: Allows deactivating or activating the hob's sounds, with options for sounds to be off or on, or only active for specific alerts (Minute Minder, Count Down Timer, control panel interaction).
Maintenance Features
Proper care and cleaning are essential for maintaining the appliance's performance and appearance:
- Regular Cleaning: The hob should be cleaned regularly to prevent surface material deterioration.
- Cooling Down: Always deactivate the appliance and allow it to cool down before cleaning.
- Disconnect from Power: Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply before any maintenance.
- Cleaning Agents: Use a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents. Avoid water spray, steam cleaners, abrasive products, abrasive cleaning pads, solvents, or metal objects.
- Immediate Removal of Spills: Melted plastic, plastic foil, sugar, and sugary foods should be removed immediately with a special scraper at an acute angle to prevent damage.
- Cool-Down Cleaning: Limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discoloration should be cleaned once the hob is sufficiently cool, using a moist cloth and non-abrasive detergent.
- Shiny Metallic Discoloration: Can be removed with a solution of water and vinegar.
- Cookware Care: Always use cookware with a clean bottom. Scratches or dark stains on the surface do not affect hob operation. Cookware made of cast iron, aluminium, or with a damaged bottom can cause scratches; these objects should always be lifted when moved.
- Service: For repairs, contact an Authorised Service Centre and use original spare parts.
- Disposal: Contact municipal authorities for correct disposal information. Disconnect from mains supply and cut off the electrical cable.
