Overview

This document is a user manual for the AEG IKE74441IB induction hob.

Function Description

The AEG IKE74441IB is a built-in induction hob designed for household use. It features four induction cooking zones and a control panel for operation. The hob utilizes an electromagnetic field to generate heat directly in the cookware, making it energy-efficient. It includes several functions to enhance cooking and safety.

Key Functions:

  • ON/OFF: Activates and deactivates the hob.
  • Heat Setting: Allows users to set and change the heat level for each cooking zone using a control bar. Heat settings range from 0 (deactivated) to 14.
  • PowerBoost (P): Provides maximum power to an induction cooking zone for a limited time, accelerating heating. After this period, the zone automatically reverts to the highest heat setting.
  • Timer:
    • Count Down Timer: Sets a specific cooking duration (00-99 minutes) for a single cooking zone. An acoustic signal sounds when the time ends, and the zone deactivates.
    • CountUp Timer: Monitors how long a cooking zone has been operating.
    • Minute Minder: A standalone timer function that operates independently of the cooking zones, useful for general timing.
  • Pause (||): Sets all active cooking zones to the lowest heat setting, allowing for a temporary interruption in cooking.
  • Bridge: Connects two left-side cooking zones to operate as one, suitable for larger cookware. The function activates when cookware covers the centers of both zones.
  • Automatic Heat Up (A): Activates a cooking zone at its highest setting initially, then automatically adjusts to the desired heat setting for faster heating. This function requires the cooking zone to be cold to activate.
  • Lock (L): Locks the control panel to prevent accidental changes to heat settings while cooking zones are active. The timer functions remain operational.
  • Child Safety Device: Prevents accidental operation of the hob. It can be activated and deactivated through a specific sequence of touches on the control panel. There is also an option to override it for a single cooking time.
  • OffSound Control: Allows users to deactivate or activate the hob's acoustic signals.
  • Power Management: Automatically divides available power among active cooking zones if the consumed power exceeds the supply limitation, protecting the house installation's fuses. The last selected cooking zone is prioritized, and remaining power is distributed to other zones in reverse order of selection.
  • Hob²Hood (H): An advanced automatic function that connects the hob to a special AEG hood via an infrared signal. The fan speed is automatically adjusted based on the hob's mode setting and the temperature of the hottest cookware. The fan can also be operated manually from the hob. This function offers different automatic modes (H0-H6) that control fan speed and light activation based on boiling or frying processes.

  • OptiHeat Control (3-step Residual Heat Indicator): Indicators (H, h, or ) show the level of residual heat in cooking zones, signaling whether it's hot enough to continue cooking, keep warm, or if there's only residual heat. This helps prevent burns and promotes energy saving.
  • Cookware Compatibility: Suitable for cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel, and multi-layer bottom cookware with a correct manufacturer marking. Cookware should have a thick, flat, clean, and dry bottom. Induction zones automatically adapt to cookware dimensions.
  • Noise During Operation: Normal operational noises include crackling (different materials), whistling (high power, different materials), humming (high power), clicking (electric switching), and hissing/buzzing (fan operation). These are normal and do not indicate a malfunction.
  • Öko Timer (Eco Timer): To save energy, the heater deactivates before the countdown timer finishes, with the duration depending on the heat setting and cooking time.
  • Energy Saving Hints: Recommendations include using only necessary water, always using lids, placing cookware on the zone before activation, using smaller cookware on smaller zones, centering cookware, and utilizing residual heat.
