Overview

This document is a user manual for an AEG Fridge Freezer, model OSC6N181ES, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The AEG Fridge Freezer is designed for storing food and beverages in a single household domestic environment. It features separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing, allowing for optimal preservation of different food types. The appliance utilizes isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.

The refrigerator compartment automatically defrosts during normal use, with the defrost water draining into a special container at the back of the appliance where it evaporates. The freezer compartment is frost-free, meaning there is no build-up of frost on internal walls or food.

Usage Features

The control panel includes a temperature indicator LED, an alarm light, a Frostmatic indicator, and a Frostmatic button.

  • Switching On/Off: The appliance is switched on by inserting the plug and touching the temperature regulator button. To switch off, the temperature regulator button must be touched for 3 seconds until all indicators turn off.
  • Temperature Regulation: The temperature can be adjusted by touching the temperature regulator button. The selection is progressive, ranging from 2°C to 8°C, with 4°C being the recommended setting. The set temperature is stored even after a power failure.
  • Frostmatic Function: This function is used for pre-freezing and fast freezing in the freezer compartment. It accelerates the freezing of fresh food and protects already frozen items from warming. It should be activated at least 24 hours before placing fresh food in the freezer. The function stops automatically after 52 hours but can be deactivated manually.
  • Door Open Alarm: If the fridge door is left open for approximately 5 minutes, an alarm light flashes, and a sound is emitted. The sound can be muted by pressing any button and automatically switches off after about an hour. The alarm deactivates once the door is closed.
  • High Temperature Alarm: In case of a temperature increase in the freezer compartment (e.g., due to a power failure), the alarm light flashes, and a sound is activated. The sound can be deactivated by pressing any button, and the light continues to flash until normal conditions are restored.
  • Movable Shelves: The refrigerator walls are equipped with runners, allowing shelves to be positioned at different heights to accommodate various food package sizes. The glass shelf above the vegetable drawer should not be moved to ensure proper air circulation.
  • Vegetable Drawers: Special drawers are provided at the bottom for storing fruits and vegetables.
  • Freezing Fresh Food: The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food and storing frozen and deep-frozen food. Food should be wrapped in food-contact material before freezing. The maximum amount of food that can be frozen within 24 hours is specified on the rating plate.
  • Storage of Frozen Food: For initial use or after a period of non-use, the appliance should run for at least 3 hours with the Frostmatic function on before storing food. Freezer drawers help organize food, and for large quantities, drawers can be removed to use shelves. Food should be kept at least 15 mm from the door.
  • Thawing: Deep-frozen or frozen food can be thawed in the refrigerator or in a plastic bag under cold water.
  • Ice-cube Production: The appliance is equipped with trays for making ice cubes.

Maintenance Features

  • General Cleaning: The interior and accessories should be washed with lukewarm water and neutral soap before first use. Detergents, abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners should not be used as they can damage the finish. Accessories and parts are not suitable for dishwashers.
  • Periodic Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly. The inside and accessories should be cleaned with lukewarm water and neutral soap. Door seals should be checked and wiped clean to ensure they are free from debris. The appliance should then be rinsed and dried thoroughly.
  • Defrost Water Drain: The defrost water drain hole in the refrigerator compartment channel should be periodically cleaned using the provided tube cleaner to prevent water overflow and dripping onto food.
  • Non-Operation Period: If the appliance will not be used for a long time, it should be disconnected from the electricity supply, all food removed, cleaned, and the doors left open to prevent unpleasant smells.
  • Lamp Replacement: The appliance is equipped with a long-life LED interior light. Only authorized service personnel are allowed to replace the lighting device.
  • Door Gaskets: To ensure proper door closure, door gaskets should be cleaned. If necessary, the door should be adjusted or defective gaskets replaced by an Authorized Service Centre.
