Function Description

The AEG OAB7N82EF is a freezer designed for storing food and beverages. It is intended for single household domestic use in an indoor environment, including offices, hotel guest rooms, bed & breakfast guest rooms, and farm guest houses, provided usage levels do not exceed average domestic use. Usage Features

  • Control Panel: The control panel includes a power indicator light, a temperature regulator and On/Off switch, a Frostmatic light, a Frostmatic switch and alarm reset switch, and an alarm light.
  • Switching On/Off: The appliance is switched on by inserting the plug and turning the temperature regulator clockwise to a medium setting. It is switched off by turning the regulator to the "O" position and removing the plug.
  • Temperature Regulation: The temperature is automatically regulated but can be adjusted manually using the temperature regulator. A medium setting is generally recommended.
  • Frostmatic Function: Activated by pressing the Frostmatic switch for 2-3 seconds. The Frostmatic light illuminates. This function pre-freezes and fast-freezes food, stopping automatically after 52 hours or manually by pressing the switch again. It is recommended to activate this function at least 24 hours before placing fresh food for freezing.
  • High Temperature Alarm: The alarm light blinks and an acoustic alarm sounds if the freezer compartment temperature increases (e.g., due to power failure). The sound can be switched off by pressing the Alarm reset switch. The alarm automatically turns off when normal conditions are restored.
  • Door Open Alarm: An acoustic alarm sounds if the door is left open for approximately 80 seconds. It stops when the door is closed or by pressing the Alarm reset switch.
  • Freezing Fresh Food: Fresh food should be stored evenly distributed in the first compartment or drawer from the top. Activating the Frostmatic function 24 hours prior is recommended.
  • Storage of Frozen Food: For large quantities, drawers can be removed to place food directly on shelves. Food should be kept at least 15 mm from the door.
  • Thawing: Deep-frozen or frozen food can be thawed in the refrigerator or under cold water in a plastic bag. Small pieces can be cooked from frozen.
  • Energy Saving Tips: Avoid frequent or prolonged door openings, ensure good ventilation, and do not cover ventilation grilles. Allow air circulation around food inside the appliance.
  • Freezing Tips: Wrap and seal fresh food in appropriate materials (aluminium foil, plastic film, bags, airtight containers). Divide food into small portions for efficient freezing and thawing. Label and date frozen food. Do not freeze bottles or cans with liquids, especially carbonated drinks. Cool hot food to room temperature before freezing. Avoid placing fresh unfrozen food directly next to already frozen food.
  • Storage Hints: The freezer compartment is marked with ****. A medium temperature setting ensures good preservation. Refer to food packaging labels for shelf life. Wrap food to prevent water, humidity, or condensation.
  • Shopping Tips: Check packaging for damage. Transport frozen goods in a thermal bag. Place frozen foods in the freezer immediately after shopping. Do not re-freeze partially defrosted food. Respect expiry dates.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning the Interior: Before first use, clean the interior and accessories with lukewarm water and neutral soap, then dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive detergents, powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners. Accessories are not dishwasher safe.

  • Period of Non-Operation: For long periods of non-use, disconnect from power, remove all food, clean the appliance and accessories, and leave the door open to prevent unpleasant smells.
  • Closing the Door: Clean door gaskets. If necessary, adjust the door according to installation instructions or replace defective door gaskets by contacting the Authorised Service Centre.
  • Service: For repairs, contact an Authorised Service Centre and use original spare parts. Spare parts (thermostats, temperature sensors, printed circuit boards, light sources, door handles, door hinges, trays, baskets) will be available for 7 years after the model is discontinued. Door gaskets will be available for 10 years.
  • Disposal: Disconnect from mains, cut off the cable, and discard. Remove the door to prevent children/pets from being trapped. The refrigerant circuit and insulation materials are ozone-friendly. Insulation foam contains flammable gas; contact municipal authority for correct disposal. Do not damage the cooling unit near the heat exchanger.
