Do you have a question about the AEG OAB6I82EF and is the answer not in the manual?
This document is a user manual for the AEG OAB6182EF Freezer, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, daily use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
The AEG OAB6182EF is a freezer designed for storing food and beverages. It is intended for single household domestic use in an indoor environment, including offices, hotel guest rooms, bed & breakfast guest rooms, and farm guest houses, provided usage levels do not exceed average domestic usage. The appliance contains isobutane (R600a), a flammable natural gas with high environmental compatibility, used in its refrigerant circuit.
The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food and storing frozen and deep-frozen food for extended periods. It features a Frostmatic function designed to perform pre-freezing and fast freezing, accelerating the freezing process for fresh food while protecting already stored foodstuffs from undesirable warming. The appliance also includes a temperature regulation system that operates automatically, though users can manually adjust the temperature.
Safety features include an alarm system for high temperatures and an open door alarm. The high temperature alarm activates when there is a significant temperature increase in the freezer compartment, such as during a power failure, indicated by a blinking alarm light and an audible sound. The door open alarm sounds if the door is left open for approximately 80 seconds.
Switching On and Temperature Regulation: To switch on the appliance, insert the plug into the wall socket and turn the temperature regulator clockwise to a medium setting. If the internal temperature is too high, the alarm light will blink, and an acoustic alarm will sound. This alarm can be turned off by pressing the Frostmatic switch. The alarm light will continue to blink until the internal temperature reaches a safe level for frozen food.
Temperature is regulated automatically, but users can adjust it. Turning the temperature regulator clockwise lowers the temperature, while turning it counterclockwise raises it. The ideal setting depends on room temperature, door opening frequency, quantity of food stored, and appliance location; a medium setting is generally recommended.
Frostmatic Function: To utilize the Frostmatic function for freezing fresh food, activate it at least 24 hours before placing food in the freezer compartment by pressing the Frostmatic switch for 2-3 seconds. The Frostmatic light will illuminate. Keep the function active for another 24 hours after placing food in the compartment. This function automatically deactivates after 52 hours but can be manually deactivated at any time by pressing the Frostmatic switch for 2-3 seconds.
Freezing and Storing Food: Before freezing, activate the Frostmatic function. Wrap and seal fresh food in aluminum foil, plastic film, bags, or airtight containers. Divide food into small portions for more efficient freezing and thawing. Label and date all frozen food to track its shelf life. Only freeze fresh food to preserve quality and nutrients. Avoid freezing bottles or cans with liquids, especially carbonated drinks, as they may explode. Cool hot food to room temperature before placing it in the freezer.
For storage, ensure the appliance runs for at least 3 hours with the Frostmatic function on before placing products, especially when activating for the first time or after a period of disuse. Freezer drawers facilitate easy access to food packages. For large quantities, remove all drawers except the bottom one to ensure good air circulation. Maintain a minimum distance of 15 mm between food and the door.
Thawing: Deep-frozen or frozen food can be thawed in the refrigerator or in a plastic bag under cold water. Thawing time varies depending on the food type. Small pieces can sometimes be cooked directly from frozen. To prevent temperature increases in already frozen food, avoid placing fresh unfrozen food directly next to it. Do not re-freeze defrosted food; cook it, cool it, and then re-freeze, or consume it quickly.
Shopping Tips: When grocery shopping, check packaging for damage. If a package is swollen or wet, the food may be deteriorated or partially defrosted. Purchase frozen goods last and transport them in a thermal or insulated cool bag. Place frozen foods immediately in the freezer upon returning home.
Cleaning: The appliance requires regular cleaning. Clean the interior and accessories with lukewarm water and a neutral soap, then dry thoroughly. Regularly check and wipe door seals to keep them clean and free from debris. Avoid using detergents, abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners, as these can damage the finish. Accessories and parts are not suitable for dishwasher cleaning.
Defrosting the Freezer: Defrost the freezer when the frost layer reaches a thickness of about 3-5 mm. Approximately 12 hours before defrosting, set a lower temperature to build up chill reserve. To defrost:
Cleaning Air Channels:
Period of Non-Operation: If the appliance will not be used for a long period:
Closing the Door: To ensure proper door closure, clean the door gaskets. If necessary, adjust the door according to installation instructions. If the gaskets are defective, contact an Authorized Service Centre for replacement.
