Overview

This document serves as a user manual for AEG refrigerators, specifically models RKB539F1DX, RKB539F1DW, RKE539F1DX, RKS539F1DW, and RKS539F1DX. It provides comprehensive information on safety, installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.

Function Description

The AEG refrigerator is designed for household and similar applications, providing a controlled environment for storing food. It utilizes a cooling unit containing isobutane (R600a), a natural gas with high environmental compatibility, to maintain desired temperatures. The appliance is equipped with a control panel that allows users to manage various functions and settings.

Usage Features

The refrigerator offers several features to enhance food preservation and user convenience:

Temperature Regulation

Users can set the temperature of the appliance using dedicated temperature regulators on the control panel. The default recommended temperature for the fridge is +4°C, with a customizable range between 2°C and 8°C. The set temperature is displayed on the control panel and is typically reached within 24 hours. In case of a power failure, the set temperature remains stored.

COOLMATIC Function

This function is ideal for rapidly chilling a large amount of warm food, such as after grocery shopping. Activating COOLMATIC helps to quickly cool new items and prevent the warming of existing food in the refrigerator. Once activated, the COOLMATIC indicator flashes, and the fan automatically engages for approximately 6 hours. The function can be manually deactivated or will stop automatically after its duration.

Holiday Mode

Designed for periods when the appliance will be empty for an extended time, Holiday Mode helps reduce the formation of unpleasant odors. When activated, the Holiday indicator flashes, and the temperature indicator shows the set temperature. This mode automatically switches off when a different temperature is selected.

DYNAMICAIR Function

The refrigerator compartment features a DYNAMICAIR device for rapid food cooling and maintaining a more uniform temperature throughout the compartment. This device activates automatically when needed or can be switched on manually via the control panel. The DYNAMICAIR indicator flashes upon activation and remains on while the function is active. The device pauses when the door is open and resumes immediately after closing. Activating DYNAMICAIR may increase energy consumption.

ChildLock Function

To prevent unintentional operation, the ChildLock function locks the buttons on the control panel. When activated, the ChildLock indicator flashes and then remains on. It can be deactivated by repeating the activation procedure.

DrinksChill Function

This feature allows users to set an acoustic alarm for a preferred cooling time, useful for chilling beverages or food items that require a specific cooling duration. The DrinksChill indicator flashes, and the timer can be set from 1 to 90 minutes. Once confirmed, the timer starts flashing, and an audible alarm sounds when the countdown ends. The alarm can be switched off by pressing the OK button.

Door Open Alarm

If the refrigerator door is left open for approximately 5 minutes, an audible alarm sounds, and the alarm indicator flashes. The alarm stops once the door is closed. During the alarm, the sound can be muted by pressing any button; otherwise, it will automatically switch off after about an hour to avoid prolonged disturbance.

Movable Shelves and Door Shelves

The interior walls are equipped with runners, allowing shelves to be positioned at various heights to accommodate different food package sizes. Door shelves can also be adjusted by pulling them up and repositioning them as needed.

Vegetable Drawer

A dedicated drawer in the bottom part of the appliance is provided for optimal storage of fruits and vegetables.

Bottle Rack

The appliance includes a pre-positioned shelf designed to hold bottles, which can be tilted to store unsealed bottles by placing the front hooks one level higher than the rear hooks.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the appliance's efficiency and hygiene.

Periodic Cleaning

The interior and accessories should be regularly cleaned with lukewarm water and a neutral soap. It is crucial to avoid abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners, as these can damage the finish. Door seals should be checked and wiped clean regularly to ensure they are free from debris, then rinsed and dried thoroughly. Accessories and parts are not suitable for washing in a dishwasher.

Defrosting

The refrigerator compartment features automatic defrosting. Defrost water drains through a trough into a special container at the back of the appliance, where it evaporates over the motor compressor. It is important to periodically clean the defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel to prevent water overflow and dripping onto food.

Period of Non-Operation

For long periods of non-use, specific precautions should be taken: disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply, remove all food, clean the appliance and all accessories, and leave the door open to prevent unpleasant smells.

Replacing the Lamp

The appliance is equipped with a long-life LED interior light. If the lamp is defective, only authorized service personnel should replace it.

Closing the Door

To ensure proper door closure, clean the door gaskets regularly. If necessary, the door can be adjusted as per the installation instructions.

Troubleshooting

The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting section to address common issues such as the appliance not operating, being noisy, alarms activating, continuous compressor operation, temperature setting problems, water flow issues, and the lamp not working. Solutions range from checking power connections and temperature settings to cleaning specific components or contacting an authorized service center.
