This document is a user manual for the AEG SCE818E8MF fridge freezer, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
The AEG SCE818E8MF is a fridge freezer designed for single household domestic use in an indoor environment, suitable for storing food and beverages. It can also be used in offices, hotel guest rooms, bed & breakfast guest rooms, farm guest houses, and similar accommodations where usage does not exceed average domestic levels. The appliance is designed to be built-in and should not be used free-standing for safety reasons. It operates within an ambient temperature range of 10°C to 43°C.
Function Description
The appliance features separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing. The refrigerator compartment is equipped with a MULTIFLOW device that ensures rapid and effective cooling, maintaining a uniform temperature throughout. This device activates automatically when needed, provided the door is closed. The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food and storing frozen and deep-frozen food for extended periods. It is a frost-free system, meaning there is no build-up of frost on internal walls or food during operation.
Usage Features
The control panel, located at the top of the appliance, includes a display, buttons for adjusting freezer and fridge temperatures (warmer/colder), an OK button, a Mode button, and an ON/OFF button. Users can customize button sounds by simultaneously pressing the Mode and temperature colder buttons.
- Switching On/Off: The appliance can be switched on by connecting it to the mains and pressing the ON/OFF button. To switch off, press the ON/OFF button for 3 seconds and then disconnect from the mains.
- Temperature Regulation: Recommended temperatures are +4°C for the fridge and -18°C for the freezer, though ranges can be adjusted between 2°C and 8°C for the fridge and -15°C and -24°C for the freezer. The set temperature is reached within 24 hours and remains stored after a power failure.
- Coolmatic Function: This function is ideal for rapidly chilling large quantities of warm food, preventing other stored items from warming up. It activates for approximately 6 hours and can be manually deactivated.
- Holiday Mode: Designed for long holiday periods, this mode keeps the fridge compartment empty to reduce odors while the freezer operates normally. It switches off when a different temperature is selected.
- Frostmatic Function: This function pre-freezes and fast-freezes food in the freezer compartment, accelerating the freezing process and protecting existing frozen food from warming. It should be activated at least 24 hours before placing fresh food for freezing and stops automatically after 52 hours. It can be manually deactivated.
- ChildLock Function: This feature locks the control panel buttons to prevent unintentional operation.
- DrinksChill Function: This function sets an acoustic alarm for a preferred time (1 to 90 minutes) to remind users about cooling food products or items placed in the freezer for fast chilling.
- High Temperature Alarm: An alarm sounds and indicators flash if the freezer temperature increases (e.g., due to a power failure). Pressing any button mutes the sound, and the alarm continues to flash until normal conditions are restored.
- Door Open Alarm: If the fridge door is left open for about 5 minutes, an alarm sounds and an indicator flashes. It stops when the door is closed.
- Movable Shelves: The refrigerator walls have runners allowing shelves to be positioned at different heights. A two-part shelf can be folded to optimize space.
- GreenZone Drawer: Located at the bottom of the refrigerator, this pull-out drawer has a glass shelf with a device to regulate sealing and humidity, aiding in the preservation of fruits and vegetables. The humidity control can be adjusted by opening or closing slots, depending on the quantity and type of produce.
- Ice-cube Production: The appliance includes trays for making ice cubes.
- Food Storage:
- Freezing: Wrap and seal fresh food in suitable materials (aluminum foil, plastic film, bags, airtight containers). Divide food into small portions for efficient freezing and thawing. Label and date frozen food. Do not freeze bottles or cans containing liquids, especially carbonated drinks. Cool hot food to room temperature before freezing. Avoid placing fresh unfrozen food directly next to already frozen food. Do not re-freeze thawed food.
- Refrigeration: Cover food to preserve freshness and aroma. Use closed containers for liquids and food to prevent odor transfer. Cover cooked food and separate it from raw food to avoid cross-contamination. Defrost food inside the fridge. Do not insert hot food. Place new stock behind old stock to prevent waste.
Maintenance Features
- Cleaning: The interior and accessories should be regularly cleaned with lukewarm water and neutral soap. Door seals should be checked and wiped clean to ensure they are free from debris. Do not use detergents, abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners, as these can damage the finish. Accessories and parts are not suitable for dishwashing.
- Defrosting: The fridge compartment defrosts automatically, with condensed water flowing into a recipient on the compressor and evaporating. The freezer compartment is frost-free and does not require manual defrosting.
- Period of Non-Operation: For long periods of disuse, disconnect the appliance, remove all food, clean it, and leave the doors open to prevent unpleasant smells.
- Door Gaskets: Regularly clean and, if necessary, adjust or replace door gaskets to ensure proper sealing.
- Internal Lighting: The appliance uses a long-life LED interior light. Replacement of the lighting device should only be done by authorized service personnel.
