This document is a user manual for the AEG X99384MD0 and X99384MD01 cooker hoods. It provides information on the appliance's functions, usage, maintenance, and safety recommendations.
Function Description
The AEG cooker hood is designed for domestic use to eliminate kitchen smells. It features a control panel with various functions to manage motor speed, lighting intensity, and filter alarms.
Controls:
The control panel includes touch-sensitive areas for different functions:
- A: Hood Functions On/Off: Touching this button turns all functions on (50% intensity) or off (Motor Off + Lights Off).
- B: Manages motor speed (0-V1-V2-V3-V4-P): Touching this area starts the motor at the selected speed. 'P' indicates Intensive Speed, which runs for 5 minutes before returning to the previous speed. When activated from Motor Off, it defaults to speed V1. The selected speed lights up at 100% intensity, while other functions are at 50%.
- C: Delay function: Activates an automatic shutdown of the Motor, Fans, and Lighting after a 10-minute delay. This function works only when the motor is on (at any speed except Intensive) and the Sensor is Off.
- Enables / Disables the Remote Control Receiver: Pressing and holding button C for 4 seconds (Motor Off + Lights Off, without other alarms) will light up the LED for 4 seconds to indicate activation or 2 seconds for deactivation.
- D: Sensor: In this mode, the hood operates automatically for a maximum of 5 hours, adjusting motor speed based on sensor readings. Buttons B and C are inactive in this mode. The function is disabled by pressing the button again or turning the hood off.
- E: Manages Lighting Intensity (0-L1-L2-L3-LMax): Touching this area turns on the lights at the desired intensity. The selected lighting intensity lights up at 100%, while other functions are at 50%.
- F: Filter Reset: Resets the Filter Saturation alarm when touched (with motor and lighting off).
Hood Options in Sensor Mode:
When operating in Sensor mode, the hood's behavior is influenced by the type of hob used. Two options are available: Electric hob and Gas hob. The default is electric hob. To change this setting:
- Turn the hood off using the on/off button.
- Press and hold the Sensor button for 8 seconds.
- 4 flashes indicate electric hob selection.
- 2 flashes indicate gas hob selection.
- Remove power for 10 seconds and then reconnect.
A calibration procedure runs every time the hob type is changed or the hood is turned on. During calibration, the hood should not be used for cooking or exposed to intense smells. Calibration takes 13 minutes for electric hob and 1 minute for gas hob, indicated by a flashing LED on the sensor button if pressed. The motor should not be turned on during calibration.
Important Technical Specifications
- Minimum Safety Distance: The minimum safety distance between the cooker top and the extractor hood is 650 mm. Some models may allow lower heights; refer to installation paragraphs for details.
- Exhaust Flue Connection: Connect the extractor to an exhaust flue with a minimum diameter of 120 mm. The flue route should be as short as possible.
- Aeration: If used with non-electrical appliances (e.g., gas burning), ensure sufficient room aeration to prevent exhaust gas backflow. The kitchen must have an opening to the open air. The negative pressure in the room must not exceed 0.04 mbar.
- Lighting: The appliance is fitted with a white LED lamp (Class 1M according to EN 60825-1: 1994 + A1:2002 + A2:2001 standards). Maximum optical power emitted @439nm: 7µW. Avoid looking directly at the light through optical devices.
- Power Supply: Check that the mains voltage matches the rating plate inside the hood. For Class I appliances, ensure adequate earthing.
Usage Features
- Domestic Use: Designed exclusively for eliminating kitchen smells.
- Flame Management: Never leave high naked flames under the hood. Adjust flame intensity to direct it onto the pan bottom, avoiding engulfing the sides.
- Deep Fat Frying: Continuously monitor deep fat fryers to prevent oil from bursting into flames.
- Flambéing: Do not flambé under the range hood due to fire risk.
- Child Safety: Not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- Hot Surfaces: Accessible parts may become hot during cooking.
Maintenance Features
- Safety First: Always switch off or unplug the appliance from the mains supply before performing any maintenance.
- Filter Cleaning/Replacement:
- Activated Charcoal Filter (W): These filters are not washable or regenerable. They must be replaced approximately every 4 months of operation, or more frequently with heavy usage. The Led flashes after 200 hours of operation to indicate saturation.
- Grease Filters (Z): These filters must be cleaned every 2 months of operation, or more frequently for heavy usage. They can be washed in a dishwasher. The Led lights up continuously after 100 hours of operation to indicate saturation.
- Cleaning the Hood: Use a damp cloth and a neutral liquid detergent. Do not spray cleaning products directly on the grill; clean with a soaked cloth. Avoid alcohol or silicone products for cleaning the grill.
- Spare Parts: Use original spare parts. When contacting service, provide model, PNC, and serial number from the rating plate.
- Lighting Replacement: For lamp replacement, contact technical support.
