The device is intended for trouble-free, low-maintenance operation, with a recommended annual replacement of certain internal components for optimal performance.

Function Description:

The Air Scrubber Mobile by Aerus functions as an electronic air purifier, primarily using ActivePure® technology to clean and purify the air. It includes a UV lamp and a fan to circulate air and facilitate the purification process. The device also features an "O₃ Boost" function, which can be adjusted to different levels depending on the desired purification intensity and space size. The purifier is designed to reduce the spread of viruses in the air, as indicated for Canadian customers.

The device includes a multi-position wire stand and a base that can be mounted using suction cups, Velcro, or screws. This allows for various placement options:

  • Sitting on a flat surface (with or without the base)
  • Hanging over an edge (pointing down, e.g., laundry hamper, garbage can)

The base also features a quick-release mechanism, enabling easy removal of the unit. Operation is controlled via UP and DOWN buttons for both the Purifier and O₃ Boost functions. LED lights indicate the current settings for both. The O₃ Boost has three settings (Low, Med, High) corresponding to different coverage areas:
  • Low: Compact Car, Pickup
  • Med: Large Sedan, SUV, or Semi-Cab
  • High: RV/Motor Home or Houseboat The Purifier function (ionization & fan) can continue operating even when the O₃ Boost is set to OFF.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for optimal performance and product longevity. The manual recommends periodic cleaning of internal components every one to three months, depending on conditions. A service kit (part #9950209) is available, containing a new ActivePure® Target, UV bulb, and ActivePure® Purification Plate. These components are recommended for annual replacement.

Cleaning Procedures:

  • ActivePure® Target: Gently remove dust with a small, soft brush.
  • UV Bulb: Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid handling the bulb more than necessary. If touched with bare hands, clean with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol.
  • ActivePure® Ozone Plate: Clean the top area with ammonia or alcohol and a cotton swab. Do not use water. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  • Case: Clean the exterior with a soft cloth dampened (not wet) with water. Avoid harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Fan / Interior of Unit: Clear dust using canned air suitable for electronics.

Removing and Installing the ActivePure® Bulb Assembly:

For maintenance or replacement, the unit must be disconnected from its power source. The lower half of the case needs to be removed by unscrewing the front screws and sliding it back and up. The Bulb Assembly, which includes the target screen and bulb, can then be lifted from its tabs and disconnected from the main circuit board. Reinstallation is the reverse process, ensuring proper alignment of the 3-pin connector and tabs, and securing the case with screws.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides troubleshooting steps for common issues such as the unit not operating, UV bulb or O₃ Boost not working, or lack of airflow. These steps include checking power connections, adapter fuses, and cleaning or replacing the Bulb Assembly.

Safety Precautions:

  • The unit must never be operated with a damaged, missing, or disassembled case to prevent serious eye damage from UV radiation.
  • Disconnect power before servicing.
  • Do not immerse in water or other liquids.
  • Do not touch the control panel or plug with wet hands.
  • Avoid inserting foreign objects into ventilation or exhaust openings.
  • Do not block air intakes or exhaust.
  • Unplug the unit before moving, cleaning, or when not in use.
  • Not for outdoor or wet surface use.
  • Do not attempt repairs, as this will void the warranty.
  • Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
  • Not for use on 12 volt positive ground or 24 volt vehicles, as this may damage the product.
