The unit will only be able to lock into the ceiling plate if both battery types are installed. Once smoke
is detected, the alarm will sound and the other detectors will be wirelessly triggered as well. One the
smoke disappears, the smoke alarm will stop automatically. For the wireless trigger on alarm, you
first have to register the smoke detectors. There is no limit to the amount of smoke detectors that can
be linked, although they do have limited range. Each smoke detector also extends the range.
Registering: Take a SA-41 alarm.
Press and hold the button for 12 seconds until the light stops blinking and remains. Immediately
release now. (Repeat this step if the lamp starts flashing soon). The light will last for 30 seconds. In
this period, press on the button of any other smoke alarms and release as soon as the lamp is lit. If
the sign-in goes well, the lights on both detectors will blink.
Press the first alarm key briefly to stop the sign-up procedure.
The distance between the device that is set in the registration mode and the device being registered
is up to 20 meters.
Example: If device (A) is registered on device (B) and device (C), the distance between device (B)
and (C) can be up to 40 meters, provided device (A) is set in the middle.
If device (B) and (C) are both registered on device (A), the alarm will not be transmitted if the distance
between device (A) and (C) is greater than 20 meters - even if device (B) is placed in between. If the
detectors will be placed more than a few feet from each other, it is recommended to register these
before installing them to the ceiling plate.
Time-out function:
With this function, the alarm will be deactivated for 10 minutes. This function can be activated by
pressing the button once, shortly. The LED will light every 8 seconds to indicate the alarm is silenced.
After 10 minutes, the blinking will stop and the alarm will be reactivated.
Test: Hold the test key for at least 2 seconds. The operation is still correct if you hear 2 or three
signal tones. If you hold the test key longer than 30 seconds, the registered smoke detectors will also
give an alert. Check the smoke detectors weekly. We recommend to check the link function monthly
as well. Do not use candles, open fire or cigarettes to test the smoke detector.
ATTENTION:
If the cause of an alarm is unclear, assume it’s caused by re. Immediately evacuate the building.
Keep the smoke detectors out of range of children.
Protect against dust during rennovations. Without protection the smoke detectors will
lose their functionality.
Maintenance: The smoke detector is maintenance-free. In very dusty rooms they may be cleaned by vacuum.
Plan an escape route:
Make a map and mark all locations of doors and windows and a possible escape route. Note that
you may need an escape ladder on high floors.
Ensure everyone in the house knows the sound the smoke alarms produce and regularly practice
use of the escape route.
Leave the house immediately according to the plan when hearing the alarm. Every second
counts: so respond quickly. If you do not notice smoke or heat, check if everyone in the house is
in a secure location.
