N.F.P. OFF Functionality

N.F.P. OFF returns to normal fader mode.

When to Use N.F.P. OFF

Recommendation to set N.F.P. to OFF unless a subwoofer is used.

Audio Control Adjustments

Selecting Audio Modes

Press MODE knob repeatedly to choose Volume, Bass, Treble, Balance, or Fader.

Adjusting Audio Settings

Rotate MODE knob to adjust selected audio settings.

Automatic Mode Return

Unit automatically returns to VOLUME mode if MODE knob is not rotated within 5 seconds.

Memory of Bass/Treble Settings

Bass and Treble settings are memorized individually for each source (FM, AM, CD).

Audio Mute Function

Activating/Deactivating Mute

Press MUTE button to instantly lower volume by 20 dB or restore it.

Mute Effect

Activating the mute function lowers the audio level by approximately 20 dB.

BBE Mode Control (CDA-7839 Only)

BBE Mode Functionality

BBE processor corrects phase distortion for accurate sound reproduction.

Activating/Deactivating BBE Mode

Press and hold MODE knob for 2 seconds to toggle BBE mode on or off.

Loudness Control (CDA-7838 Only)

Loudness Functionality

Automatic Radio Preset Storage

Initiating Automatic Memory

Press and hold A.ME button for at least 2 seconds to start automatic memory.

Automatic Storage Process

Tuner automatically seeks and stores 6 strong stations in the selected band.

Result After Automatic Memory

Tuner returns to preset location No. 1 after automatic memory is complete.

No Stations Stored Scenario

If no stations are stored, tuner returns to the original station before the procedure.

Direct Access Preset (D.A.P.) Band Storage

D.A.P. Band Overview

Manually preset up to 6 stations from any band into the D.A.P. band.

Activating D.A.P. Mode

Press 'F' button to turn off lamp, then press D.A.P. button until indicator appears.

Selecting Band for D.A.P.

Press BAND button to select FM or AM for D.A.P. band.

D.A.P. Mode Compatibility

This function can be used together with the Automatic Memory Preset.

Titling Radio Stations

Tuning to a Station for Titling

Tune to the station you wish to give a name.

Entering Titling Mode

Press TITLE button twice (or once if in Clock Priority mode) to enter titling mode.

Press and hold TITLE button for 3 seconds; the first digit will blink.

Selecting Title Characters

Rotate MODE knob to select desired letter/numeral/symbol for the title.

Storing Characters and Advancing

Press MODE button to store character; display advances to next character.

Completing Station Titling

Repeat steps 4 and 5 to complete titling; automatically stores title after 8th character.

Handling Titles Shorter Than 8 Characters

Use spaces to fill remaining character positions for titles shorter than 8 characters.

Automatic Title Storage

The title is automatically stored into memory after the last character is entered.

Erasing Titles

Enter the "" symbol into all spaces to erase a title.

Full Data Message

Display shows 'FULL DATA' when title memory is full; no more titles can be stored.

Maximum of 24 titles for AM and FM stations can be entered.

Searching for Titled Stations

Initiating Title Search

Press T.S.M. button to play the selected station; unit automatically searches and plays.

Inserting and Ejecting CDs

Inserting a CD

Insert CD halfway into slot, label side up; player automatically draws it in.

Disc Indicator

The Disc indicator appears on the display to show that a disc is loaded.

Using 3-inch CDs

Note that 3-inch (8cm) CDs can be used with this player.

Ejecting a CD

Press the eject button when you want to eject the CD.

Automatic CD Re-insertion

If CD is not removed shortly after ejecting, it's automatically drawn back in.

Normal CD Playback and Pause

Starting CD Playback

Insert CD; playback begins from the first track, showing track number and time.

Selecting CD Mode

If CD is already loaded, press SOURCE to select CD mode.

Pausing CD Playback

Press the ►/II button to temporarily stop CD playback.

Resuming CD Playback

Press the ►/II button again to resume playback.
