This document is an assembly and operation manual for the ALUTECH LG-500-868/LG-500-868-GB drive for garage doors. It provides comprehensive information on the product's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description
The ALUTECH LG-500-868/LG-500-868-GB drive with a drive rail is designed for the automation of balanced sectional garage doors. The drive, combined with its rail, forms a complete set for garage door automation. It consists of a gear-motor with an electric motor, a 24 V DC transformer, an electric control unit with a built-in radio control module, and LED lighting. The drive operates on 230 V/50 Hz mains power. In the event of a temporary loss of mains power, the drive rail can be manually released, allowing the door leaf to be operated manually.
The drive facilitates automatic opening and closing of garage doors, offering various control modes including step-by-step, open, close, stop, and light lamp mode. It supports the connection of additional safety and control devices such as photocells, key-switches, and external lamps. The system incorporates safety features like obstacle detection, which reverses the door movement upon contact with an object, and a PHOTOTEST function for checking photocell operation before door movement.

The manual also specifies compatible drive rails (LGR-3300B/C, LGR-3600B/C, LGR-4200B/C) with corresponding maximum door heights (2400 mm, 2700 mm, 3300 mm) for belt and chain types. These specifications are valid at an ambient temperature of +20 °C (±5 °C).
Usage Features
The drive is operated and adjusted using a control board with buttons and a display. Key buttons include PR./< (enter/exit settings menu), ST./> (enter settings/confirm value), OP./A (move step-by-step up/control opening), and CL./ (move step-by-step down/control closing).
- Mounting: The drive rail is mounted in the middle of the door, or within 100 mm to the left or right. The door bracket is installed on the door leaf, and the rail fastening bracket on the wall, ensuring a 20-50 mm clearance from the maximum door movement point. Suspension strips are used to fasten the rail to the ceiling, with an adjustable distance L. The drive unit is then installed on the rail.
- Manual Release: In case of power failure or drive malfunction, the rail carriage can be released by pulling down the manual release cable, allowing manual door operation. The manual release cord should be placed at a height of less than 1.8 m.
- Electrical Interfaces: The manual provides detailed wiring diagrams for connecting various accessories like photocells, key-switches, and signal lamps. It emphasizes the importance of proper wiring and using ALUTECH-approved devices to ensure stable operation.
- Adjustment:
- Door Position: End OPEN and CLOSED positions can be set manually (P1-F1) or automatically (P1-F3). The system automatically resets P5 and P6 settings to factory defaults after end positions are set.
- Radio Control Setup: The P2 menu allows recording remote controls (F1, F3, F6 for different button configurations), defining their recording number (F7), and deleting remote controls (F8, F9, F0).
- Operation Values: The P menu allows setting various operational parameters, including pause time for automatic closing (P4-F1, F2), drive force (P5-F1, F2), speed of door movement (P6-F1, F2), photocell operating mode (P7-F1, F3), photocell blocking distance (P7-F5), and signal lamp output mode (P8-F1, F4).
- Factory Reset: The system can be reset to factory default settings (P0 menu), which deletes configured door positions but saves recorded remote controls.
Maintenance Features
Scheduled maintenance is crucial for efficient and safe operation and should be performed at least once every six months by qualified specialists.
- Checks:
- Verify compliance with all safety rules and manual requirements.
- Inspect components for wear and oxidation, replacing any parts with unacceptable wear using original manufacturer parts.
- Check the correctness of the door stop in its final positions and reprogram if necessary.
- Clean external surfaces of the drive and safety devices with a soft, moist cloth. Avoid water jets, high-pressure cleaners, acids, and alkalis.
- Perform a full system check as described in the "Testing and Commissioning" section, including:
- Stable and secure mounting of the drive and guide rail.
- Smooth manual operation of the door after unblocking.
- Correct movement directions and smooth operation during open-close cycles.
- Guide belt/chain tension.
- Functionality of the integrated LED backlight.
- Correct operation of all connected control devices (buttons, remotes).
- Correct operation of all connected safety and alarm devices (photocells, movement stop devices, lamps), ensuring proper reaction to photocell activation (stopping and opening the door).
- Obstacle detection during closing (door stops and fully opens upon contact with a 50 mm obstacle).
- Door stopping when manually obstructed during opening and closing.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting table (Table 16) outlining common faults, possible reasons (e.g., no supply voltage, blown fuse, remote control not recorded, low battery, blocked carriage, changed final positions, malfunctioning photocells, obstacle detection), and recommended solutions (e.g., check supply voltage, replace fuse, record remote control, replace battery, unblock carriage, check photocells, contact customer service).
- Documentation: Installers are required to prepare and provide the user with technical documentation, including general drawing, circuit layout, assembly and operation manual, and a maintenance schedule. They must also instruct the owner on maintenance rules and existing hazards.
