  If your Amana dehumidifier is running but not removing humidity, first, check if the overflow tank is full and needs to be drained. Make sure to replace it correctly after draining. If the tank isn't full, the humidistat setting may be too low; increase it by turning it clockwise. Also, check for frost on the coil; if present, allow the dehumidifier to cycle through the frost thawing process. Normal operation should resume once the frost is gone. Do not manually remove frost, as this may damage the coils.

  If there's heavy frost buildup on your Amana dehumidifier, the humidistat setting may be too high. Try lowering it by turning it counter-clockwise to the lowest setting that controls dampness and odors. If the humidistat setting is already low, the frost thaw cycle may not be working, and the unit needs to be serviced. Also, the coils could be dirty. See the 'Care and Cleaning' section for guidance.

  A light buildup of frost on your Amana dehumidifier can be normal if it's the first time you've used it. Otherwise, the air temperature might be too cold (less than 65 °F). If possible, increase the room temperature or move the dehumidifier away from cold surfaces or drafts.
