      To ensure proper operation of your Amana Washer, the front and rear feet must be in firm contact with the floor, and the washer needs to be level. Check the floor for flexing or sagging. If the flooring is uneven, placing a 3/4" (19 mm) piece of plywood under the washer can help reduce sound. Also, distribute dry items in loose heaps evenly around the basket wall. Avoid adding wet items or too much water, as this can cause imbalance. Wash smaller loads to minimize imbalance, and avoid tightly packing the washer or washing single items. Use the Bulky Items & Sheets cycle for oversized, non-absorbent items.

      If your Amana Washer is making unusual noises, first check for objects caught in the drain system by emptying pockets before washing, as loose items like coins can fall between the basket and tub or block the pump. Note that it’s normal to hear metal items on clothing, such as snaps, buckles, or zippers, touching the basket. Also, the pump makes a continuous humming sound with periodic gurgling or surging as water is removed during the Drain/Spin cycle, and the hum of sensing spins after starting the washer is also normal.
