The AMC 2N100MKII Series is a multi-channel power amplifier designed for home automation and high-fidelity audio systems. This manual provides detailed instructions for its installation, operation, and maintenance, emphasizing safety and optimal performance.
Function Description
The AMC 2N100MKII is a multi-channel power amplifier that takes line-level audio signals and amplifies them to drive loudspeakers. Each channel features independent input level controls, allowing for precise adjustment of output levels to match different loudspeakers in a multi-room installation or to optimize balance in a stereo system. It also includes line outputs for passing the audio signal to other amplifiers or line-level devices. The amplifier is designed to deliver high peak currents, making it suitable for driving low-impedance loudspeakers.

Usage Features
- Power Switch: A press-button switch on the front panel controls the power. When switched on, a small green indicator light above the switch illuminates.
- Mains Inlet: Connects the AC power cord to a wall outlet. The amplifier is set to work with the local mains supply voltage, which should be verified against the back panel's voltage setting.
- Input Level Controls: Each channel has an independent level control. These should be set to their fully clockwise position before initial power-on. They can be used to match loudspeaker levels in multi-room setups, lower amplifier sensitivity for more convenient pre-amplifier volume control, or optimize stereo balance.
- Line Outputs: Each input has a corresponding line output, allowing the signal to be passed to another amplifier or line-level device.
- Line Inputs: RCA phono connectors on the back panel serve as inputs for each power amplifier channel.
- Loudspeaker Terminals: Binding post type terminals are designed to handle high peak currents. Heavy-duty wire (16 gauge or thicker) is recommended for connections to loudspeakers, especially with low-impedance models. It is crucial never to short the outputs together.
- Unswitched Convenience AC Outlet: An unswitched AC outlet on the back panel provides power for other audio or video components.
Installation Notes
The AMC 2N100MKII generates modest amounts of heat, requiring adequate ventilation. It should not be placed on soft surfaces (like carpets) that could block bottom ventilation holes, and top cover ventilation holes should also remain unobstructed.
Safety Instructions
- Risk of Electric Shock: Do not open the amplifier's cover or back. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. The lightning flash with an arrowhead symbol warns of uninsulated dangerous voltage within the enclosure.
- Moisture and Liquids: Do not expose the appliance to rain or moisture. Prevent any liquid or moisture from entering internal parts. If liquid enters, immediately shut off power, remove the AC cord, and have the product examined by a service technician, especially if the liquid is not clean water or pure alcohol.
- Ventilation: Ensure the amplifier's location does not interfere with proper ventilation. Avoid placing it on surfaces that block ventilation openings or in built-in installations that impede airflow.
- Heat Sources: Position the amplifier away from radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other heat-producing appliances.
- Power Supply: Connect to a power supply of the type described in the operating instructions or marked on the appliance.
- Power-Cord Protection: Route power cords to prevent them from being walked on or pinched, paying attention to plugs, convenience receptacles, and exit points from the appliance.
- Cleaning: Clean the appliance only as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Non-Use Periods: Unplug the power cord from the outlet when the appliance is unused for long periods.
- Object and Liquid Entry: Exercise care to prevent objects from falling and liquids from spilling into the enclosure through openings.
- Servicing: Do not attempt to service the appliance beyond the operating instructions. All other servicing must be referred to qualified service personnel. Unauthorized repairs may invalidate the warranty.
- Damage Requiring Service: Service is required if the power cord or plug is damaged, objects or liquid have entered the appliance, it has been exposed to rain, it does not operate normally, exhibits a marked change in performance, or if the enclosure is damaged.
Mains Lead Wiring (for export units without moulded plugs)
The cores of the mains lead are colored as follows:
- Blue: Neutral (connect to terminal marked N, or colored black or blue).
- Brown: Live (connect to terminal marked L, or colored red or brown).
CATV Systems Installer Note
This reminder calls attention to Article 820-22 of the NEC, which provides guidelines for proper grounding of CATV systems. The cable ground should be connected to the building's grounding system as close as practical to the point of cable entry.
Some AMC products are equipped with dual or multi-voltage transformers (indicated on the back panel). If a voltage change is desired, the unit must be brought to an authorized AMC service technician for internal conversion.
