Overview

This document provides comprehensive information for the use and maintenance of Amica wine coolers, specifically models AWC150, AWC300, and AWC600. These appliances are designed exclusively for the storage of wine, ensuring optimal conditions for preservation.

Function Description

The Amica wine coolers are refrigeration appliances intended for storing wine in sealed containers. They feature a temperature control system that allows users to set and maintain specific temperatures suitable for different types of wine, such as red, dry/white, rosé, and sparkling wines. The AWC600 model offers dual-zone control, allowing for different temperature settings in its upper and lower compartments to accommodate a wider variety of wines simultaneously. The appliance includes internal lighting to illuminate the contents, which can be switched on or off as needed. A temperature display provides feedback on the cooler's internal conditions, showing either the set temperature or the real-time actual temperature. The control panel can be locked to prevent accidental changes to settings. The wine coolers are designed to operate within specific ambient temperature ranges, ensuring efficient performance.

Usage Features

Before first use, it is crucial to allow the appliance to settle for at least twenty-four hours after delivery to prevent damage to the compressor. The interior and exterior should be cleaned thoroughly before storing any wine. The appliance may emit an odor initially, which will dissipate as it cools.

The control panel, common across all models, includes buttons for power, light, and temperature adjustment. The AWC600 model also features a zone selection button for its dual compartments. To lock or unlock the control panel, users must press and hold the power and light buttons simultaneously for approximately 4 seconds. The panel automatically locks after about 15 seconds of inactivity. To switch the appliance on or off, the power button needs to be pressed and held for approximately 4 seconds.

Temperature adjustment is straightforward: unlock the control panel, then use the "+" or "-" buttons to set the desired temperature. The display will flash while the temperature is being adjusted. For the AWC600, the zone control button allows selection of either the upper or lower zone for temperature adjustment, with ranges of 5-12°C for the upper zone and 12-20°C for the lower zone.

The temperature display can be toggled between Fahrenheit and Celsius. For AWC150 and AWC300 models, this is done by ensuring the control panel is locked, then pressing and holding the "+" or "-" buttons for approximately 4 seconds. For the AWC600, the control panel must be unlocked, and then the °C/°F button pressed. The display also has two modes: "Set temperature display" (showing the target temperature) and "Real temperature display" (showing the actual internal temperature). A decimal point next to the temperature indicates that the cooler is actively working to achieve the set temperature. To switch between these display modes, ensure the control panel is locked, then touch and hold the light button and the "-" button for about 2 seconds. The display will show '02' for set temperature mode or '01' for real temperature mode; use the "-" button to select the desired mode, then wait 5 seconds for the change to take effect.

The internal light can be switched on or off by pressing the light button after unlocking the control panel.

The manual provides recommended storage temperatures for various wine types:

  • Red Wine: 15 - 18°C (59°F-64°F)
  • Dry/White Wine: 9 - 14°C (48°F-57°F)
  • Rosé Wine: 10 - 11°C (50°F-52°F)
  • Sparkling Wine: 5 - 8°C (41°F-46°F)

In the event of a power failure, it is advised to keep the door closed to maintain the internal temperature. The wine cooler will remember its settings once power is restored. The appliance is suitable for use in an extended temperature climate (ST) with an ambient temperature range of 16-38°C.

Maintenance Features

Regular care and cleaning are essential for the longevity and proper functioning of the wine cooler. Always disconnect the appliance from the mains electrical supply before any cleaning or maintenance.

For models AWC300 and AWC600, shelves can be removed for cleaning. To do so, remove all bottles, pull the shelf forward until its groove aligns with the plastic peg on the cabinet side, then lift and pull the shelf out. Reassembly is the reverse process.

Cleaning instructions:

  • Do not use abrasive products or harsh detergents. Rinse and dry thoroughly after washing.
  • The exterior and door seal should be cleaned with mild soapy water and dried completely.
  • The interior cabinet should be cleaned regularly using a solution of bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water.
  • Shelves should be cleaned separately by hand with soap and water; they are not dishwasher safe.
  • When cleaning the control panel and electrical parts, use only a moist cloth and ensure all water is thoroughly dried off before reconnecting power.
  • If the appliance will not be used for prolonged periods, unplug it, clean it thoroughly, and leave the door slightly ajar to prevent odors, mold, or condensation.

The appliance is equipped with a temperature alarm that sounds if the internal temperature deviates from the set range. This can be caused by the cooler not yet reaching the set temperature, a power failure, overloading, a poorly closed door, or a failed temperature sensor. If the cooler overheats, the system will automatically shut down after 6 hours, though warnings will continue.

Troubleshooting tips are provided for common issues:

  • Appliance not working: Check power supply, house fuses/circuit breakers, plug socket functionality, and ensure ambient temperature is within 16-38°C.
  • Appliance working poorly: Check for overloading, correct thermostat setting, proper door closure, intact door gasket, sufficient ventilation, and ambient temperature.
  • Appliance noisy: Ensure the appliance is level and stable. Compressor and fan noise are normal during operation.
  • Appliance cooling on and off frequently: This indicates fluctuating internal temperature, causing the system to cycle.
  • Light not working: Check power, fuses, and ensure the light button is not set to off (unlock the panel first). Note that LED lighting requires a service call for replacement.
  • Door not closing properly: Check if the appliance is level, if the door was refitted correctly (if removed), if the door seal is dirty, and if shelves are positioned correctly.
  • Display shows "LL" or "HH": This indicates a failed temperature sensor, requiring contact with customer care.

Installation guidelines emphasize that the appliance is intended for installation between two units. If freestanding, ensure it cannot cause harm or damage. Minimum space requirements are provided for each model to ensure adequate ventilation. The appliance is designed to fit under worktops between 830-885mm in height, using an adjustable plinth plate. Failure to follow installation and ventilation instructions may invalidate the warranty.

Instructions are also provided for installing the handle and reversing the door. When installing the handle, do not remove the screws from the door prior to fitting, as fixings may drop inside. Do not overtighten screws or use power tools. Door reversal requires careful handling and is best done with assistance. The plinth can be adjusted for height by loosening screws, guiding the trim down, and then tightening the screws. After installation and adjustment, allow the wine cooler to stand for 24 hours before plugging it in to prevent system damage.

Electrical information highlights that the appliance must be earthed and comes with a BS 1363A 13 amp fused plug. Instructions for changing the fuse are provided. If an alternative plug is needed, it must be at least 13 Amp rated to BS 1363, and wiring connections (Green/Yellow to Earth, Blue to Neutral, Brown to Live) must be followed carefully. A qualified electrician should be consulted if in doubt. The plug socket should be easily accessible.
