Overview

The Noxxa Electric Multifunction Pressure Cooker (217019) is a versatile kitchen appliance designed to simplify cooking with a range of functions and safety features.

Function Description

The cooker offers multiple cooking modes, including high and low pressure cooking, steaming, slow cooking, stir-frying, keeping warm, and reheating. Its one-touch panel allows for easy selection of these functions, while a delay timer provides flexibility in setting cooking times for up to 8 hours. The lighted digital display on the control panel ensures ease of use.

Pressure Cooking: This mode allows for both high and low pressure cooking, significantly reducing cooking times while retaining flavor and tenderness. The pressure regulator knob plays a crucial role here, being in the 'press down' position during pressure cooking.

Warm/Reheat: After cooking, the appliance can automatically keep food warm or reheat cold food for extended periods.

Stir-fry: This function is ideal for browning food before pressure cooking or for other stir-frying needs.

Steam: The steam function quickly brings cooking liquid to a boil for steaming food or rice. Steam is released intermittently through the pressure regulator knob during this process.

Slow Cook: For dishes that benefit from longer cooking times to develop rich flavors and tenderness, the slow cook function can be set for up to 9.5 hours.

Delay Timer: This feature allows users to program the cooker to start cooking at a later time, with a delay of up to 8 hours.

Usage Features

The Noxxa pressure cooker is designed with several components that contribute to its functionality and safety:

Pressure Regulator Knob: This knob is essential for both pressure cooking and steaming. It should be in the 'press down' position for pressure cooking and in the 'up' position for steaming.

Floating Valve: This safety valve allows excess pressure to escape if it builds up too much within the cooker.

Self-Locking Lid: A key safety feature, the lid will not open until the internal pressure has dropped to zero, preventing accidental injury.

Removable Cooking Pot: The 8-liter capacity, non-stick removable pot ensures even heat distribution and easy cleaning.

Condensation Reservoir: This component collects excess condensation that forms during the cooking process.

Silicone Gasket: The silicone gasket creates an airtight seal, which is critical for the pressure function to operate effectively.

Pressure Safety Valve: Similar to the floating valve, this valve also allows excess pressure to escape if it becomes too high.

Anti-Blocking Case: This case prevents food particles from adhering to the underside of the pressure regulator knob and the floating valve, ensuring their proper function.

Additional Safety Features for Pressure Cooking:

  1. Locking Pin: Prevents the lid from being opened when the internal pressure exceeds 0.725 psi.
  2. Automatic Shut-off (Low Pressure): The unit will automatically shut off if pressure exceeds 5 psi during low-pressure cooking.
  3. Automatic Shut-off (High Pressure): The unit will automatically shut off if pressure exceeds 10 psi during high-pressure cooking.
  4. Steam/Pressure Release: The pressure regulator knob will be forced upward to release steam/pressure if the unit reaches 13 psi. If this fails, the floating valve will release steam/pressure at 18 psi. In extreme cases, if both safety valves fail and pressure reaches 27.5 psi, the inner cooking pot will be forced down, creating a gap for steam/pressure to escape.

Boil Dry & Overheat Safety Features: If there is no water in the pot during pressure cooking or if the unit overheats during other functions, the cooker will automatically switch off and beep three times, displaying "E3". After cooling, "0:0" will appear, and the cooker can be resumed.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Insufficient Liquid/Floating Valve Not Risen: If the floating valve hasn't risen and the timer is counting down, stop the cooker, release pressure, remove the lid, add approximately 1 cup of water/stock, replace the lid, and restart the desired pressure cooking function.
  • Steam Leaking from Under the Cover: If steam is leaking due to an improperly closed cover, gasket issues, or overfilling, release pressure, check the gasket for tears/cracks, ensure it's positioned properly, and remove excess liquid if overfilled.
  • Cannot Open/Remove Cover: Ensure all pressure has been released. If the cover still won't open, bring the contents up to pressure again, release the pressure completely, and if it still won't come off, return it for service.

Maintenance Features

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of the Noxxa pressure cooker.

General Cleaning:

  1. Always unplug the unit and allow it to cool before cleaning.
  2. Wash the removable cooking pot with warm soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
  3. Wipe the outer housing and lid with a clean, damp cloth. Never submerge the unit in water.
  4. Remove the condensation reservoir by pulling it down, clean with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry, then push it back up to replace.
  5. Turn the lid upside down, grasp the silicone gasket on either side, and pull it up. Clean the gasket with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly. Replace the gasket by pushing it down into the lid's edge, ensuring the groove in the center is positioned around the metal ring on the inside edge of the lid. An improperly positioned gasket will prevent the unit from working.
  6. After each use, clean the bottom of the removable cooking pot in the area of the sensor pad with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly to maintain good performance.
  7. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads on any parts of the cooker.

Silicone Gasket Check: Periodically check the silicone gasket to ensure it is clean, flexible, and free from cracks or tears. A damaged gasket must be replaced.

Cleaning the Pressure Regulator Knob:

  1. After the unit has cooled and the lid is removed, press down and turn the pressure regulator knob counter-clockwise past the STEAM setting to carefully remove it.
  2. Turn the lid over and pull out the anti-blocking case. Use a brush to check for and remove any food particles lodged in the floating valve. Replace the anti-blocking case.
  3. Replace the pressure regulator knob by aligning the notches with the inside wall of the pressure regulator chamber in the lid and turning clockwise.

Storage Instructions: Store the cooker with the lid resting upside down on the removable cooking pot. This protects the valves, knobs, and pressure regulator. Storing the cooker with a sealed lid may lead to stale odors.
