Overview

The Anko Multi Cooker KY-509 is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for a variety of cooking functions, including slow cooking, steaming, stewing, oven baking, browning/sautéing, rice cooking, and deep frying. This multi-function cooking pot is suitable for use on both gas and induction cooktops, offering flexibility in its application.

Function Description:

The multi cooker features a control panel with a digital display, a function dial, a "Keep Warm" button, "Start/Stop" button, "Set Time/Temp" button, and an adjustment dial. These controls allow users to select different cooking modes, set desired cooking times and temperatures, and initiate or cancel cooking programs.

  • Slow Cook: This function is ideal for cooking dishes over an extended period at lower temperatures. Users can set the cooking time within a range of 15 minutes to 12 hours, with a default temperature of 90°C, adjustable between 85°C and 95°C. The lid should be closed during slow cooking.
  • Steam: For steaming, water is added to the pot, and the steam rack is placed inside. The cooking time can be set from 1 minute to 1 hour. The lid must be closed during steaming.
  • Stew: This mode is designed for stewing, with a default cooking time of 1 hour, adjustable from 15 minutes to 6 hours. The default temperature is 100°C, adjustable between 90°C and 100°C. The lid should be closed.
  • Oven/Bake: This function allows for oven-style baking. The default cooking time is 30 minutes, adjustable from 5 minutes to 6 hours. The default temperature is 180°C, adjustable between 150°C and 200°C. The lid should be closed.
  • Brown/Sauté: This function is used for browning or sautéing ingredients. The default cooking time is 1 minute, adjustable from 1 minute to 1 hour. The default temperature is 200°C, adjustable between 170°C and 200°C. The lid should be open during this process.
  • Rice: The rice cooking function automatically sets the time and temperature, which are not adjustable. After cooking, it automatically switches to "Keep Warm" mode. The lid should be closed.
  • Deep Fryer: This function is for deep frying, with a default cooking time of 30 minutes, adjustable from 1 minute to 1 hour. The default temperature is 180°C, adjustable between 150°C and 190°C. The lid should be open during deep frying.
  • Keep Warm: This function can be activated from standby mode or automatically after some cooking programs. It keeps food warm for up to 12 hours, though a maximum of 6 hours is recommended for best flavor. The default time is 15 minutes, adjustable from 15 minutes to 12 hours. The lid should be closed.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Input Voltage: AC220-240V~50/60Hz
  • Power: 1300W
  • Model: KY-509
  • Capacity: The inner pot has a "MAX" level mark. For boiling liquids, especially those that foam or expand (like rice and dried vegetables), do not fill the inner pot beyond 2/3rds of its capacity.
  • Accessories: The multi cooker comes with a glass lid, cooking pot, slotted spoon, frying basket, and steam rack.

Usage Features:

  • Control Panel: The digital display shows cooking time and temperature. The function dial allows easy selection of cooking modes. The adjustment dial is used to increase or decrease time and temperature settings.
  • Preheating: For functions like Stew, Oven/Bake, Brown/Sauté, and Deep Fryer, the unit will preheat to the set temperature before the cooking timer begins counting down.
  • Safety Features: The appliance includes safety precautions such as warnings against touching hot surfaces, immersing electrical components in liquids, and operating with wet hands. It also has an over-heat protection mechanism that shuts off the unit if water boils away during steaming.
  • Lid Handling: Always lift the lid away from you to avoid steam burns. Do not place hands on the lid during cooking.
  • Oil Usage (Deep Fryer): Only standard vegetable shortening or cooking oil is recommended due to higher smoking temperatures. Never overfill the cooking pot above the MAX level or below the MIN level. Ensure the cooking pot is completely dry before adding oil. Extreme caution is advised when using hot oil, and the appliance should cool completely before removing oil. Wet or frozen food should not be added to hot oil to prevent spattering.
  • Rice Cooking Guide: Specific water volumes are provided for different quantities of uncooked white rice, ranging from 2 cups (380g rice, 615ml water) to 7 cups (1330g rice, 1640ml water). 1 cup of rice is approximately 190g, and 1 cup of water is approximately 205ml.
  • Cooktop Compatibility: The inner pot is suitable for searing on gas or induction cooktops. When using on an induction cooktop, ensure the base is clean to prevent scratching and avoid overheating empty pots.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The appliance should be unplugged and allowed to cool completely before cleaning. The inner pot and lid should be washed with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge, then rinsed and thoroughly dried. The main unit housing should be wiped with a moistened cloth, ensuring no water enters the housing. Alkaline cleaning agents should not be used to prevent damage.
  • Storage: After cleaning and cooling, the removable power cord should be unplugged. Accessories like the frying basket, steam rack, and slotted spoons can be stored inside the inner pot. The multi cooker should always be stored in an upright position, and nothing should be placed on top of it.
  • Cord and Plug: The supply cord should be kept away from hot surfaces, open flames, and sharp edges. Always pull from the plug, not the cord, when disconnecting from a power outlet. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified electrical person.

Safety Warnings:

  • Hot Surfaces: The heating element surface and accessible surfaces (especially the lid) can be very hot during and after use. Use oven gloves/mitts and only touch handles or buttons.
  • Scalding Risk: Never place your hand on the lid during cooking.
  • Electrical Shock: Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or power plug in water or other liquids. Do not operate with wet hands or on a wet floor.
  • Unattended Use: Do not leave the appliance unattended when in use.
  • Movement: Do not move the appliance while it is in use.
  • Foreign Objects: Do not insert any foreign objects into the housing.
  • Ventilation: Never block the ventilation openings at the bottom of the appliance.
  • Placement: Keep the unit clear of walls, curtains, and other heat-sensitive materials (minimum 20cm distance). Do not place under shelving or flammable materials.
  • Children: This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • Repairs: Do not attempt to dismantle or repair the appliance yourself. Defective components must be replaced by a qualified electrical person.
  • Accessories: Only use original accessories supplied with the product.
  • Inner Pot: Use the inner pot only with this appliance.
  • Timer/Remote Control: The appliance is not intended to be operated by an external timer or separate remote-control system.
