The AOFAR HX-700N is a portable optoelectronic laser rangefinder designed for hunting and other outdoor activities requiring precise distance measurement. This device offers high accuracy and efficiency, making it a valuable tool for users who need to measure distances to stationary objects within a specific range. Its design prioritizes user convenience with features like quick measurement times and power-saving capabilities.

Function Description

The primary function of the HX-700N is to measure the distance to a target using laser technology. It operates by emitting a laser beam towards an object and calculating the distance based on the time it takes for the beam to return. This process ensures high accuracy in measurements. Beyond simple distance measurement, the device incorporates several specialized modes to enhance its utility in various scenarios:

Ranging Mode: This is the basic distance measurement mode, allowing users to obtain the distance to a single target. The device displays the measured distance on its LCD screen.
Scan Mode: In this mode, the rangefinder continuously emits laser beams while the user pans across multiple targets. This allows for continuous measurement of distances to various objects in the field of view, providing a dynamic overview of the terrain.
Flagpole Lock Mode (Golf Mode): This specialized mode is particularly useful for golfers or hunters aiming at small, distant objects like flagsticks. The device is designed to isolate the closest small object (e.g., a flagpole) from background targets such as trees or bushes. It locks onto the flagpole, providing its precise distance and effectively shielding out the distances to objects behind it. This ensures accurate measurement to the intended target without interference from the background.
Fog Mode: Environmental conditions like fog can interfere with laser measurements. The Fog Mode is designed to filter out incorrect distance readings caused by microparticles in the fog, which can reflect the laser beam prematurely. By filtering out these short-range reflections (typically within 30 meters), the device ensures more reliable long-distance measurements even in foggy conditions.
Speed Measurement Mode: The HX-700N can also measure the speed of moving objects. This is achieved by taking two distance measurements of the object at different times and calculating the speed based on the distance difference and the time interval between measurements. The device can display speed in kilometers per hour (KM/h) or meters per second (M/s).

The device features an intuitive LCD display that shows various indicators, including the current mode (Range, Scan, Fog, Speed), low battery status, and an aiming indication. The measured distance and speed are prominently displayed. If a measurement fails, the screen will show four dashes.

Usage Features

The HX-700N is designed for ease of use with a straightforward interface:

Two-Button Operation: The rangefinder operates with two main buttons: a power/transmitting key and a mode button.
- The power/transmitting key is used to turn the device on and initiate laser transmission for measurements.
- The mode button ("M") allows users to cycle through the different measurement modes (Ranging, Scan, Fog, Speed) with a short press.
Unit Switching: Users can switch between distance units (meters and yards) by long-pressing the "M" button in range measurement mode. Similarly, speed units (KM/h and M/s) can be switched by long-pressing the "M" button in speed measurement mode.
Adjustable Eyepiece (Dioptre): The device features an adjustable eyepiece with a dioptre range of -5 to +5. This allows users with varying eyesight, including those with farsightedness, to use the rangefinder without needing their glasses. Users can rotate the dioptre left or right until the view through the eyepiece is clear and focused.
Automatic Power-Off: To conserve battery life, the device includes an automatic power-off function, which activates after a period of inactivity.
Low Voltage Alarm: A low battery indicator appears on the LCD display when the battery voltage is too low, reminding the user to replace the battery to maintain accuracy and functionality.
Compact and Portable Design: The rangefinder is designed to be lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry during hunting trips or other outdoor activities. It includes a sling connection hole for attaching a strap, enhancing portability and security.
Durable Construction: The device features a "Prevent slippery Leather" texture, which likely enhances grip and durability, making it suitable for rugged outdoor environments.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring the longevity and accurate performance of the HX-700N:

Battery Management:
- The device uses a CR2-3V battery. Users should replace the battery when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
- If the rangefinder will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the battery to prevent leakage and potential damage to the device.
Eyepiece Care: Avoid touching the eyepiece directly, as this can damage the protective film.
Lens Cleaning: If the external lens becomes stained, it should be cleaned with a dedicated lens cloth. Do not use other materials or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the lens coating.
Handling and Storage:
- The device should not be disassembled by unauthorized personnel. It has been precisely aligned and adjusted during manufacturing.
- Avoid collisions or subjecting the device to high pressure, especially during transport or operation.
- Store the rangefinder in a dry, cool, and airy place, away from dust, direct sunlight, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
Laser Safety: Never point the laser beam directly at the sun or any strong light source, as this can damage the photosensitive element of the device.
Professional Service: If any problems arise with the device, it should be sent to a professional department for repair rather than attempting self-repair.

By adhering to these usage and maintenance guidelines, users can ensure reliable and accurate performance from their AOFAR HX-700N laser rangefinder.
