Overview

This document describes the APARICI SOLxxxN electric water heater, a device designed for heating water in residential and commercial settings. The manual provides comprehensive instructions for installation, usage, and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Function Description:

The APARICI SOLxxxN is an electric water heater that utilizes photovoltaic solar panels for energy. It is designed to heat water efficiently and reliably, offering various capacities to suit different needs. The device is equipped with safety features and regulation mechanisms to maintain desired water temperatures and prevent overheating. Its primary function is to provide a continuous supply of hot water, integrating with a solar panel system for energy efficiency.

Important Technical Specifications:

The APARICI SOLxxxN series comes in several models, each with specific technical characteristics:

  • Models and Capacities:

    • SOL050: 50 liters
    • SOL075: 75 liters
    • SOL100: 100 liters
    • SOL120: 120 liters
  • Electrical Characteristics:

    • Voltage (V DC): 60/120 V for all models.
    • Power (W): 530/1060 W for all models.
    • Class: IPX4 for all models, indicating protection against splashing water from any direction.
    • Regulation Thermostat Temperature (°C): 65°C for all models.
    • Type of Regulation Thermostat: Bulb type for all models.
    • Type of Safety Thermostat: Bulb type for all models.
    • External Temperature Regulation: Yes, for all models.
    • Type of Heating Element: Dry heating element for all models, which means the heating element is not in direct contact with the water, reducing corrosion and making replacement easier.
  • Hydraulic Characteristics:

    • Enamelled Tank: Yes, for all models, providing corrosion resistance and durability.
    • Magnesium Anode: Yes, for all models, serving as a sacrificial anode to protect the tank from corrosion.
    • Nominal Pressure: 9 bar for all models.
    • Safety Valve Pressure: 10 bar for all models.
    • Water Connections: G1/2'' for all models.
  • Dimensions (for Ø450 models, as an example):

    • A (Height): 813 mm (SOL075), 963 mm (SOL100), 1123 mm (SOL120)
    • B (Width): 470 mm for all Ø450 models
    • C (Depth): 450 mm (SOL075), 610 mm (SOL100, SOL120)
    • D (Universal Vertical Position): 210-350 mm (SOL050), 210-440 mm (SOL075, SOL100, SOL120)
    • E: 270 mm (SOL050), 340 mm (SOL075, SOL100, SOL120)
    • F: 395 mm (SOL050), 465 mm (SOL075, SOL100, SOL120)

Usage Features:

  • Installation Flexibility: The APARICI SOLxxxN can be installed in three positions: vertical, horizontal with the maintenance cover on the left, and horizontal with the maintenance cover on the right. This flexibility allows for adaptation to various installation spaces.
    • Vertical Installation: Cold water inlet (F) on the right, hot water outlet (C) on the left. The hydraulic safety valve must be installed on the cold water inlet pipe.
    • Horizontal Installation (left cover): Cold water inlet (F) on the bottom pipe, hot water outlet (C) on the upper pipe. The safety valve must be installed on the bottom pipe.
    • Horizontal Installation (right cover): Cold water inlet (F) on the bottom pipe, hot water outlet (C) on the upper pipe. The safety valve must be installed on the bottom pipe.
  • Photovoltaic Integration: These models are designed to be connected to a field of photovoltaic solar panels. Depending on the chosen resistance, the panel field can consist of two units (60V - 530W) or four units (120V - 1060W) of standard 265W - 30V panels. This feature promotes energy efficiency and reduces reliance on conventional electricity.
  • Temperature Regulation: Users can regulate the water temperature from 7°C to 75°C using a high-precision bulb thermostat and an external regulation knob.
    • Position '❄️': Approximately 7°C, to prevent water freezing.
    • Position 'ECO': Approximately 50°C, an optimal temperature to reduce heat losses and scale formation in hard water areas.
    • Position '+': Approximately 65°C, for maximum water temperature inside the tank.
  • Pilot Light: The operation of the electric immersion heater is indicated by a pilot light.
  • Pre-installation Checks: Before hydraulic connection, it is recommended to let water flow for a few minutes to clear any foreign particles from the pipes. Before electrical connection, ensure the water heater is completely filled with water by opening a hot water tap until water flows out.
  • Pressure Management: If the water network pressure exceeds the nominal pressure of the water heater, a pressure reduction valve (2-3 bar) must be installed. A drain pipe is compulsory to evacuate water drops from the safety valve.
  • Water Quality Recommendations: For optimal performance and to prevent corrosion, the water quality should meet specific criteria: Ryznar index less than 7, conductivity at 25°C less than 350 μ/Ω-cm, and chlorine (Cl-) and sodium (Na+) less than 75 mg/l. Hardness should be regulated between 12°F and 31°F.

Maintenance Features:

  • Professional Installation and Repair: All installation, repair, and maintenance work (e.g., lime removal, anode inspection/replacement) must be carried out by qualified personnel or authorized APARICI technical assistance services. This ensures safety and proper functioning of the device.
  • Anode Protection: The presence of a magnesium anode helps protect the enamelled tank from corrosion, extending the lifespan of the water heater. Regular inspection and replacement of the anode are part of the recommended maintenance.
  • Dry Heating Element: The dry heating element design simplifies maintenance as it can be replaced without draining the tank, reducing downtime and effort.
  • Cleaning: The external parts of the water heater can be cleaned with a mild detergent solution. Abrasive cleaners and solvents should be avoided to prevent damage to the surface.
  • Frost Protection (Draining): In areas prone to freezing temperatures, the water heater must be drained if it is to be out of service. The draining procedure involves:
    • Unplugging the appliance from the electrical network.
    • Closing the cold water inlet.
    • Draining the water heater using the safety valve.
    • Protecting the safety valve from freezing.
    • Refilling the water heater before reconnecting it to the electrical network.
  • Safety Valve Check: The return safety valve should be checked regularly (every 14 days) to ensure it is functioning correctly. This involves opening the outlet of the valve to confirm water flow.
  • Electrical Protections: The installation must include necessary protections such as 12A fuses (both in flow and return) and an insulation monitor (switch against indirect contacts).
  • Warranty: The product comes with a commercial warranty. During the initial 6 months, any non-conformity is covered, including displacement and labor. After 6 months and up to two years, the warranty covers parts if the non-conformity existed at the time of delivery. The user is responsible for proving this after 6 months. Installation, disassembly, and transport costs are borne by the user. The warranty does not cover damages from force majeure, incorrect installation, inadequate water pressure/voltage, or damage to plastic/pilot/enamel/paint components. It also excludes damages from aggressive water or non-domestic use. An extended warranty of 3 additional years for the tank (5 years total) is available upon registration.
