How to fix the Appareo GPS power key if it does not power on?
    • Z
      zmaynardAug 22, 2025
If the power key on your Appareo GPS (Stratus ES/ESG) doesn't turn it on: 1. First, make sure the power key isn't stuck. 2. Next, check the circuit breaker to see if it has tripped. If it has, reset it and try the power key again. Keep in mind that the circuit breaker can only be reset once. If it trips again or hasn't tripped, you should contact your dealer for help.

What to do if my Appareo Stratus ES screen displays a Built in Test (BIT) failure?
    • R
      Ronald SosaAug 25, 2025
When the screen displays a Built in Test (BIT) failure, it indicates that an error has been detected. The appropriate action depends on the type of error: * For a non-critical error, press the FUNC button to clear the message. * For a critical error, restart the unit or shut it down. Other possible causes and solutions: * If the transponder has overheated, transponder function will resume when the transponder cools down. * If a key has been depressed for more than 20 seconds, try to unstick the key. * If a squitter rate error has been detected, the transponder may recover itself, but if it does not, restart the unit.

What to do if my Appareo Marine Radio screen displays a “transmitter failure” error message?
    • A
      alexandergeorgeAug 27, 2025
If the screen displays a “transmitter failure” error message, it could be due to several reasons: * Verify that the transponder is completely seated in the rack. * Check all connectors to ensure they are properly mated. * Verify that the transponder antenna is connected to the port labeled XPNDR ANT and that the GPS antenna is connected to the port labeled GPS (Stratus ESG only). * Verify that the maximum loss from the transponder connector to the antenna connector is 2 db. Also, inspect the transponder antenna and wiring to ensure functionality and integrity.

Why is the altitude displayed incorrect on my Appareo Stratus ES?
    • A
      Ashley HuntAug 30, 2025
If the altitude displayed is incorrect, take the following steps: * Enter into configuration mode on Stratus ES/ESG and verify that the altitude source is set as the currently used altitude source. * If the altitude source is a serial connection, verify that the correct encoding option was selected. Also, verify that the correct connections are made to the transponder. You can use an altitude simulator to verify the cabling, and ensure that there is not a problem with the altitude source itself.

Why is GPS information not being received on my Appareo Stratus ES?
    • R
      Ronald AcostaSep 1, 2025
If GPS information is not being received, it might be due to a problem with the connection to the GPS position source. Verify that the connection between Stratus ES and the GPS position source is secure. If the connection is good and the position source is configured correctly, but the GPS position source is not achieving GPS lock, refer to the documentation for your GPS position source for troubleshooting.
