In
the
program
mode,
program lines must begin
with
a
line
number.
A
line
number
is
a
one
through
five
digit
number
entered
at
the
beginning
of
a
program
line. The
line
number
at
the
beginning
of
a program line
is
the
only
difference
between
it
and
an
immediate
mode
line.
No
two
line numbers can be
the
same.
If
the same
line
number
is
used
more
than
once
in a program,
the
line most recently
entered
will
replace
the
original.
The execution sequence
of
a BASIC program
is
determined
by
the
value
of
its
line
number.
The lowest
line
numbers
will
be
executed first,
followed
by program lines
with
higher
line
numbers.
Even
if
program
lines are
not
arranged in sequential
order,
the
Applesoft
BASIC
interpreter
will
place
the
lines in
the
correct order.
