Opening the Computer

Prepare Computer for Opening

Turn off, disconnect cables, and place the iMac face down on a soft surface.

Remove Computer Cover

Loosen captive screws using a Phillips #2 screwdriver and lift off the back cover.

Removing the AirPort Extreme Card

Ground Yourself

Discharge static electricity by touching a metal surface inside the computer.

Disconnect Antenna and Remove Card

Disconnect the antenna cable and pull the tab to remove the AirPort Extreme card.

Installing the Replacement AirPort Extreme Card

Insert Replacement Card

Slide the new AirPort Extreme card into the guide channel until it clicks.

Connect Antenna and Secure Card

Connect the antenna cable and ensure the card is flush with the plastic guide.

Closing the Computer

Replace Computer Cover

Align cover slots with display housing tabs and press down until snug.

Tighten Screws and Reconnect Cables

Tighten case screws, position the computer upright, and reconnect cables.
